Hello Ado!

Cheers for the personal intro, and I thought the only decent thing to do was to return the courtesy. As GargleBlaster pointed out, it wasn't entirely necessary, but it certainly was a nice touch smiley - bigeyes

So whereabouts in Oz do you live? I'm a Brit still living in England, but my sister is living over there at the moment, just up the coast from Sydney.

Glad you decided to join our happy band of non-believers - tell your friends!!

Later, AA.

Thanks for dropping in Austin Allegro! I live in Melbourne, it's way down south in Victoria (no prizes for guessing the colonial history of this fair land!).

I used to live in Sydney, the coast to the north of there is fabulous. It gets even more fabulous the more north you go until you run out of superlatives and just sort of gibber around looking a bit foolish.

I'm intrigued, you described yourself as a Brit still living in England. Don't all Brits live in Brit? It's probably a figure of speech.

I am telling all my friends, it seems the only honest/decent thing to do.smiley - winkeye Thanks --- Ado!

I went over to visit my sister last June. I wasn't over for there nearly long enough (a bare 3 weeks) but after staying with my sister in Terrigal for a week, we went up to Cairns and spent a week up there. What an amazing week that was!! As well as doing the typical touristy things (like diving the barrier reef) we toured further up the coast (I can't remember the names of any of the places, unfortunately smiley - smiley), and the coast line up there was just indescribable beauty.

I most certainly intend on coming back again in a few more years, but hopefully next time for months rather than weeks. Maybe i'll head down in your direction as well smiley - winkeye

I refer to myself as a Brit living in England because I would still consider myself British, no matter where in the world I was living. For instance, my sister is fairly well rooted in Australia now, but she still is and always will be a Brit, no matter how unfortunate that may be!! Just as if you yourself lived in England, i'm sure you would still consider yourself Australian.

Oh yes indeedy there is no escaping the essential Australianess of a native born son anywhere in the English speaking world (this is not a bad thing just a monolith of fact eg Germaine Greer, Rolf Harris, Clive James, all have spent well over three quarters of their lives in Brit yet will always be tagged as Aussies).

I'm really pleased you had a good time in Oz. Do go south and pop in and say hello when your in Melbourne town.

It's the same kind of thing that happens when you visit other regions of Oz. You drive for a million years and then you come accross an area of obscene natural beauty and wealth. Do check it out! I'm sure you'll be suitably impressed.

The only trick now is to get the whiteys in this place to appreciate it also and stop industrially buggering it up. smiley - winkeye

It is in this vein that I urge you to come over sooner rather than later ---- Ado!
