Regarding your computer problems, I have finally remembered to ask some Mac owners.
Response:
Macs are entirely capable of using the flag system.
However...
There is a bug in the system that can create an invalid URL for complaints.
The work-around is to right-click (or mac equivalent) on the flag button, and open it in a new tab.
For instance, I selected a random post of yours, and obtained this url:
www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/comments/UserComplaintPage?PostID=105922304&s_start=1&s_ptrt=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fdna%2Fmbreligion%2Fbrunel%2FNF2213235%3Fthread=8004587%3Fs_sync=1
(I removed the h t t p to stop the system hiding the whole link)
Notice the word "brunel" between "h2g2" and "comments"?
Remove that word (or whatever your system has in its place - it is just the name of the layout you are using in your preferences), as well as one of the "/", and the tab will then become a functioning complaint page. When finished, close the tab as usual.

Much obliged for your trouble. I'll try it out, though I don't wish to actually flag any posts. At present I'm not working the BBC Religion Boards, and not sure I will. But nevertheless, kind of you to go to all the trouble. Many thanks again,
