So, the jar of Marmite was confiscated at the airport for exceeding the allowable amount. I guess they're trying to avoid a national shortage of the stuff.
So I picked some up in the international aisle of my supermarket and had some on one end of my rye toast this morning. I was not expecting it to be so salty! I didn't expect the consistency, either. I thought it would be paste-like, not so runny.
I can't say I'm a fan. Maybe I can use it as an ingredient in a recipe.

It's fine, you're allowed to hate it! It's their unique selling point! But it isn't meant to be runny, it's more like glue and you spread it with a knife. So was this is a plastic squeezy bottle or a little glass jar? And do tell, was it confiscated at your airport or ours? Was it prevented from leaving the UK or from entering the USA?
You could try it as a drink, although we have something called Bovril which is more used for that and is a beef extract. Marmite is yeast.
I've never really thought of cooking with Marmite, I only do one thing. Grate some cheese, mix this to a paste with a little milk then add Marmite. Grill a piece of bread on one side, turn it over, spread the cheesy Marmite mix on it and grill until bubbly. Yum! And for a little while you could buy cheese with Marmite already added.
Looking online I've found several recipes such as cheese and Marmite scones, and a whole load of ideas here: http://www.marmite.co.uk/restaurant
Anyway, how's things with you and yours?

Well, it is gluey. But it will run off the knife if I don't move quickly from jar to toast.
Things are status quo in my neck of the woods. In mildly interesting news, I am taking 2 summer courses, Business Statistics and Business Law II. This is in pursuit of acquiring an accounting degree in addition to the economics degree I got back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. If all goes as planned, I'll have degree in hand in 2 years.
Then I hope I can get a real job.
