Many thanks for dropping by Phil. Always nice to see an old friend.
Sorry I didn't see this at the time. I'd probably gone offline. I'm the blue blur that just flashes by h2g2 right now.
You might know this. I'm hearing vague rumours of another London meet soon. Any news?

As Manuel, the terrible waiter from Barcelona (or Mexico City for the Spanish version), would say "I know nothing".
I guess that you must have gone by the time I got here last night, oh well, never mind.

Hello
As of 00:00 2002-05-10 this was my oldest conversation on H2G2 (number 707).
In less than a minute it'll be on top of the list!

Just about to go off and see lots of multi coloured in the red sea . Hope you're well and that everything is OK for the time being

Wow! I must have a look through and see which of my old conversations have returned.
I have a job for September! However, there's a lot to do before then. Exams begin on Monday for a start.
How was the Red Sea?
Lots of fish?

Where is that smiley?
I logged on to h2g2 to make one post only and I knew it was to you but then I forgot what it was!
Happy Birthday!!

Phil Posted May 20, 2002
Thank you. I had a great birthday with two dives - some of the best I'd done all week! I will write a journal entry eventually when I'm awake as I've had not enough sleep yet from the overnight flight!
Good to hear about your job, will you be based back London way?
Howdy doody
coelacanth Posted May 30, 2002
The holiday sounds wonderful! A year ago you must have been wondering if you could do that kind of thing again.
>>will you be based back London way?
I never wasn't! I just work a lot and hardly see my own house in daylight, let alone be able to go out anywhere. In fact London is just over an hour away by car and it will be in the new job too.
I'm doing something that only about 700 people in the country did last year. Transferring from the independent to the state system. Its much more common to go the other way - which is what I did 2 years ago.
How about you? Any luck with job hunting?
Howdy doody
Phil Posted May 30, 2002
It was certainly something I wondered about.
So you will still be able to drop back to revisit some of the London places you like that's good then.
Whatever direction you're travelling in, I hope that you find better job fulfilment in this one
So far no luck with getting a job. I might have to move back up there soon anyway

I'm travelling back in the direction I came from. This may or may not be the best thing to do, but right now I need to take stock of things. The girls convinced me that another completely new start wouldn't be a good idea at this point.
I am looking forward to having time again. All I need now is someone to share some of it with.
Good luck to you! I'm sure things will be sorted out soon.

Phil Posted May 30, 2002
The girls are probably right and I'm sure they'd rather not have a total new start again either for all of you.

Hi there! Did you have a good weekend? Are you moving away from London by installments?
Its Half Term now and then I have 4 more weeks of the job left.
Howdy doody
Phil Posted Jun 5, 2002
I guess it must seem like that! I am prefering to spend time outside of London at weekends
The weekend was a good one and mostly dry as well. Went out kite flying and managed to get the kite ot work after the help of a nice passer by. Went out for a trip up to Goredale scar as well. Very impressive cleft in the rock.
4 weeks to go after the break, yay. Must feel good

coelacanth Posted Jun 5, 2002
Mostly dry is good. Its rained a lot here and not at all kite weather. It sounds like you had a good time. I don't think you'll miss London by the sounds of things. Any good news on the job front yet?
The 4 weeks will be frantic and then the girls will be away for 2 weeks. I know I really, really need a holiday myself but since I've never had a proper one and I won't go alone, I suppose I'd better forget the idea, as usual. I don't want to take them anywhere myself. That wouldn't be any kind of a rest.
I'm being realistic and not expecting things to feel even remotely good until the Christmas break. If they don't then I'll take stock again and decide what to do for the best.

Phil Posted Jun 5, 2002
We had to go some way to find some kite flying weather (up past Carnforth on the edge of Morcambe Bay). So far I've not heard much on the job front. There was a promissing lead when I came back from holiday but I need to chase it up now as it's been a couple of weeks.
You should take yourself away and get all pampered up, even if it's only for a weekend!
I do hope it works out better for you this time.

I was in London yesterday and walked across the new Hungerford bridge. What a great view from it too.
I've just seen that the next London meet is during my holiday time. There's no details as yet, but surely they're going to have to have it somewhere with more space than a pub.
Howdy doody
Phil Posted Jun 7, 2002
I went over that new bridge today for the first time. Nice to see it open after watching it being built You know the west end seemed very quiet at aboiut lunchtime. Can't think why
I guess the pub will just have to get bigger...
