Is it 'seal-a-kenth'?

Well done! It's 'kanth' (like the panth in panther), but with the American accent... 
Do you know if there are any specimins over there? We have the one in the Natural History Museum in Kensington which I visit when I can. I have a postcard of it next to my computer.

I have no idea(about that, antway), I first heard of the animal through you. I will research it if I can find the time. I'm in the NE USA.
