Hello there! I know we haven't chatted on a personal basis, but I still thought of you when I saw a comic online featuring your totem fish.
Since I can't give you the URL directly, perhaps I can help you find it online. The comic is by Lynda Barry and is featured at the online magazine Salon. If you have trouble finding it, please stop by my page and get my email addy. Drop me a note, and I'll email the link back to you.
I thought you might want to know!

Hello there! We haven't chatted, you're right, but yours is the first column I go to in the POST each week, and I have lurked round your page, although not for a while.
I was actually looking at something on Salon earlier, then followed a link to something else..... (happens all the time!) I do visit the site a lot, so I'll swim over and find the comic. Thank you!

Actually, before I do go and look, did anyone tell you that your column was one of the questions in the pub quiz at the London meet last month? I got it right (Which is more than the quiz compilers did - your name was wrong!)

Agh, no! Nobody's told me this very important piece of information. So what did they think my name was, then?
And thanks very much for reading my column. It's only when people like you tell me they've been reading that I remember why I started writing it in the first place.

"Methodical"
Which may or may not be true. But reading the column makes me think it probably is. Consistently high quality reading. You should be told that.

Thanks, I guess.
And that was Peta's doing! I remember she typed my name this way when putting me on the list of Gurus. I thought it was quite funny at the time. It's rather hilarious that she's still doing that.

You should pop by and tell her that you know. Make her apologise! She gets back from the Scottish meet up on Thursday.
Did you see the pictures from the London meet? Shazz has some, and Other Person (Phil. Galaxy Babe has a nice one of the quiz team I was on, although that's come to me by email. Shea made it over from your side of the pond and has pictures too.
Thanks for the comic link btw. I've sent others over to look too.

I wouldn't want to correct her again. Actually, I think it mildly adorable that she calls me that. And I'm just waiting for April Fool's Day to change my name to 'the Methodical' and see who notices.
I did see the meet pictures, and I saw you in them. It's nice knowing what you look like.
And I'm glad you liked the comic. It even tells you how to pronounce 'coelacanth!' That makes it valuable in any case.

You should check out the dinofish link on my page which tells you all you could ever want to know about the coelacanth. I've been promising the lovely Ashley an article for ages, so I really ought to get on the case. Nice pictures of me giving him a big don't you think?
I love the idea of swimming round h2g2 as an ancient old fish that people thought had disappeared. I'll keep quiet on April 1st.
Your article on the DIY Fairy Tale kit is brilliant! I've set my daughter Moonlight (not her real name, but her outlook on life) the task of producing something. It's the long holday here, so that's going to keep her busy. Thanks. I'll post there when its finished.

Yes, that is a lovely picture.
Perhaps on April 1st, I could make the miraculous discovery that you do exist!!!
And thanks for the comments on the DIY Fairy Tale Kit. Do let me know if your daughter finished a story. as I'd love to read it!

You'll be the first to know when Elfin (U113749) has finished.
Oddly enough, I bookmarked this ages ago:
"...unless h2g2 miraculously housed a child genius creating impressively publishable fiction..."
Who said that?

In that event, I reserve the right to sell the story and retire to the coast.

Hahah! Yes, I remember that rather long-winded conversation.
And if you make it happen, I'll owe you a box of chocolate chip cookies.
