Hello my backwards friend, well how was your Christmas...ours was hot apparently we were the hotest city in the world Christmas day and being out in the bush we were even hotter again...
We have had fun and games with visits to emergency departments and cranky airconditioners however nothing could prevail around the Christmas spirit around here.
Tom and I watered the garden this moring and then spent the next two hours swanning around in the pool I look forward all year to the time Tom takes off and it seems to go by so fast....he works so hard all year that by the end of the year he is left as flat as a tack
Funny how we are loosing our pages good that you got your back I like your name change you never struck me as weird.....
Our oldest has gone up North to Kalbarri I could think of nothing worse in this weather at least however he is camping on the beach
So have you any plans for New year and how do you celebrate it in Moscow...
The mongol Hoardes are waiting for me to play a board game so I had better skadoodle

Yeah, I like this name better too... Maybe I 'll stick to it...
Hope you are ok in the New Year!
Our Christmas Day was yesterday and tomorrow I'm off to another 5-month teaching marathon!
My big boys started taking interest in girls, and I'm scared stiff.Am I mistaken or your son is getting married some time soon?
Much love to you and yours,
Elena

Hello Cyber friend Hope your christmas was good what did you do?
Yes TJ and his girlfriend are talking next year to get married they are actually off to the country today to look at land not that anything will come of it as he is still on apprentice wages and she is only working part time while waiting to start studying again.
We have talked to our guys ever since they were little about what it is we believe as Christians is the right way to proceed with the opposite sex and why ... I am glad to say that our oldest and his young lady decided to wait till after they were married to start any kind of physical relationship and when I listen to him talk about his relationship with her it is obvious that he respects and loves her very much...he talks about the kind of husband he wants to be and I have told him all the things that I admire and love about his father
in relation to how he has always treated me with respect and honoured me and son number one looks like being a chip of the old block thats not to say that he isn't going to blow it big time some times but I know his heart is in the right place and he has been set a good example..
I know its fashionable and considered sophisticated to run men down these days but my children have only ever heard me say good things about their father and so to for that matter have my girlfirends I tell the stuff that bugs me only to my husband and sometimes not even him there have been plenty of times when I have simply prayed and left the irritating thing in Gods hands
....which is something I learned from Tom along with patience for answer to the prayer....
We had been married about 8 years when we were driving along the freeway one time when God suddenly reminded me of the time in our first year of marriage when I received my tax return cheuqe which was about $500.00... back then that was quite a reasonable sum....I went out the same day and bought hubby a brief case and pen and had them both engraved with his name and then went and bought a new shirt, trousers, tie, belt and jumper spending the whole lot in one afternoon all on him I thought he would be thrilled...however when I gave the present to him that night after dinner though he thanked me it was not with the sort of enthusiasim I had expected.....anyway 8 years later God explained that the look I had seen on his face was that the money I had spent on him could have been used to pay off the loan we had taken out to pay for our wedding....when I looked up and told this to Tom and asked him why he hadn't said anything at the time he said I did I prayed and asked God to teach you how to handle money better and that we might learn to work as a team in all areas and I said but that was 8 years ago and he said yep I knew God would get through eventually he then went on to tell me that when things were really important to him he always told God and just left it with him and sooner or sometimes later when God knew I was ready a change would take place...now we have an ongoing joke when I change position on something or change a habit I just look at him and say you've been praying again haven't you
Iam a very stubborn rebellious individual who hates being told what to do like most aussies hubby knows that the only being i will listen to 100% of the Time is God so he simply dobs me in and sits back and waits smart man my hubby

Hello
Have been lurking on your convo with Nick to catch up with the news, if you don't mind
Unable to write these days - drowned in wet and cloudy winter an'work an'kids and ageing, trying to save every minute - but it's always good to keep in touch.
See you...
All the best,
Elena

Good luck with the new friend!
Son #3 turned 13 on Friday, so I have 4 teenagers in the house these days... #1 seems to be in love, I can only hope they'll be kind to each other...He has 'a top floor', or a 'roof', as we say in Russian, all right and hopefully won't mess things up...however, one can never be too certain about anything...#2's roof is leaking heavily, and gets completely blown off at times, so I'd rather he didn't fall in love too soon, being only 16 and still at school - has to be preparing for his final exams and uni entrance exams...career prospects vague so far...little understanding of what he'd like to do or what suits him best...not the best circumstances to get involved with a girl and have yet another puzzle to sort out...
I'm entering a new stage of having grown-up children and living more lives at a time than is mentally and physically possible...
(Not to mention the little one, who needs a lot of attention because she is only 8 )

Oh, yes, Kenya...I have a beautiful young Kenyan friend here in Moscow - one of the Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa's congregation) who look after our homeless drunkards (because we aren't good enough at taking care of them)...She is so sweet, and around Christmas told me happily that during her last visit home she found things changing for the better...
There's so much injustice everywhere, and so much aggression in humans, the bloodshed never stops...
