That is one funky idea! That somebody's researcher number would also be their (or somebody else's) telephone number! That kicks!
The subject header is like that because whenever I have a conversation with a new person they never last long and stop talking to me. Skum. It's a shame because I really do like talking to people here. I think there's only one person on h2g2 that I don't like.
Anyway, how are you?

I'm great, thanks for asking! What about you?
Well, you know, telephone numbers play an important role in our lives...
If you don't mind me asking... who is the 1 that you don't like?
Well, anyway... have a nice day!

Me, I'm great. I've just recieved mail from the h2g2 mailing list. It is great! Well, I've only been with for about 2 days, and maybe things will change in the future. But as it is I am loving it! It's giving me an opportunity to talk about things in such depth that has no been so far achieved on h2g2. Interested? Why not join us!
The person I don't like is Irving Washington. Gobshyte and U2 fan. It's a very old and petty thing, but I never forgive and never forget.
Good night (it's three minutes past midnight, GMT). Gosh! Is that the time! I'd better go to bed...
Talk to ya tomorrow!

Unfortunatley I don't have a link handy. You'll have to do a bit of clicking.
Go to my homepage, and click on 'click ere to see all forum entries'. Click on the one that says 'h2g2 mailing list'. You might want to read it all offline, it's kinda interesting. But about halfway through there's a link to the onelist registration thing. Which is where you sign up to the mailing list (or 'community' as they say). You'll have to wait a bit for ffmike to approve you. Should take no more than a day for him to get round to you.
You won't have a flooded inbox if you choose to receive all the mail into your inbox, unless you check your mail infrequently.
Hope it helps. See you there!

No probs.
Well, the paranooid fear of a conversation dying starts to creep in, but at least I've done something helpful.
Oh, and don't worry, I hate leaving a conversation without a reply.

Paranoid feelings.... I get those sometimes.
Especially when the voices in my head tell me to do things.

Crimney!
Judging by that and your jounal, you sound bored. I will take on the resposibility that the ACEs have not and give you a link to somewhere where you can not be bored!

My favourites (at the moent) are Wrathcild, Flight Of Icarus and Afraid To Shoot Strangers.
I had this idea for my website (which should be around about September-ish) about having the lyrics for Run To The Hills, and a screen grab from The Secret Of NIMH for each line. Nice. I also thought of it for 22 Acacia Avenue (cue links to NIMHTRIX!) and Derek And The Dominoes's Bell Bottom Blues.
Sometimes I amaze myself with my ingenuity!
And if I can find someone with a screen-grabbing thing than hopefully I can go Gangland with shots from Basil The Great Mouse Detective.

He he.
Fourteen. 14.
Slowly the terrible fact trickles out to a select few.

Well, after 15 weeks you do have a bit of a memory lapse. Guess I've been a bit harsh. I just hope Irv never reads this!!!

SORRYSORRYSORRYSORRY!!!!
My internet wasn't working!!!
You see, I have Cox@Home, and when it was installed they gave us a defective modem. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And then one day a few months ago, it stopped working. Completely. We had people come to our house, new modems installed, there were cords and stuff everywhere!!!
Finally a week or two ago it started working again. Why, I do not know. But, unfortunatly, when it began working again, these magical little things called "proxies" wouldn't work. I called the Cox people and they told me that proxies were things that made websites work, only in a lot more words. Basically, I could do stuff like check my regulated mail but surfing the web was completely out the question.
Those were dark days indeed. No web, only the Ultamite Hitchhiker's Guide and a towel to keep me company during the hours that I was not doing things, say being asleep and eating.
But then, one day last week, BEHOLD!!! A friend and neighbor of mine came to my rescue. She also had the cursed Cox@home and told me what no other Cox represenative had told me: reset the proxies. She even told me how.
So now, I can spend glories days online, back to my obsessed self. The only bad side is that my second e-mail account on Yahoo had 87 messages, but still, I have my beloved internet.
(There was another short crisis between then and now, the browser kept saying that the connection to h2g2.com was refused, but I prevailed by continusly pressing RELOAD for a few hours straight.)
But as for now, I apologize profusely for ignoring you and the rest of the h2g2 community.
Now I must go (sniff), but now, with unlimited internet access, I WILL BE BACK!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Yours, Skeeve

Well, at least you didn't vanish off the face of the earth like all the other newbies
You got 87 messages after so many weeks backlog? Man, I get about 60-odd new messages every day! Comes from being on five mailing lists
So, you got a fair deal of backlog now. Anything happen in the meantime that's worth contributing to the guide? I mean, I've just been churning out guide entries over the past few weeks. I think I got about 80-odd now, a dozen of them submitted

the zen master of spork Posted Apr 22, 2000
Really? Wow!
About entries, I dunno. I guess I gotta think on that one.
I do want to submit some, there's just one problem: they haven't been written yet. (yesh!) As soon as I can come up with a good idea or two, I will submit some entries.
Until then, I guess I'm just :looking around."
