Hey Kayleigh,

Wizard isn't too long, I haven't really counted the pages, but I think maybe 7-8? I am still rewriting some of it so I apologise in advance for any hiccups or foupas.

Hmmmm....publishing a story. Firstly you have to decide what genre your story falls into. Is it fact or fiction? Young adult/teen? Western? Romance? Fantasy? Drama or Mystery?
Publishers are specific about what they publish and differ from company to company. Some only do teen and mysteries and romance while another might do only short stories or corporate publishing.

Then you have to find a magazine that will possibly be interested in publishing it. To get started (which is what I am busy doing) it is just best to find a magazine and submit it to them. You might want to try www.Glimmertrain.com as they are always looking for new writers and I have submitted a story to them to be judged this month. They like short, personal stories or stories that have emotional meaning. Check out their site. Then, do you have Adobe Acrobat to read PDF files? I have a list of US and UK literary agents on a PDF file which I will happily email to you. My personal email is [email protected]. Contact me if you want to and I can send the file to you. If that doesn't work, I will write out a list of the websites for you to look into.

Then it is good to join sites such as fanstory.com or writing.com where you can post your work and get advice and opinions of other writers. (you have probably heard of them)

Personally, I enjoy Fanstory.com a whole lot more than Writing.com. At Fanstory.com you can earn points and member dollars which you can use to advertise your work by reviewing other writer's work. It is a great site. You can join for free, but if you want to put more than 5 pieces of work on the site, then they ask you to pay about $5.95 per month. Again, you don't have to choose this option and can just rotate your works by removing some and adding more. They also have writing competitions where you can win amazon.com gift certificates. It is a great site. They rank you as an author and as a reviewer and you can earn stars according to the amount of points you earn while reviewing. So it makes reading just as fun as writing. I personally have some work up there under the same name I operate under on this site.

I hope this helps. We are busy learning together. Don't give up on your dreams as they can take you to amazing places. I cannot wait until my dreams come true because I know they will.

Take care and I hope to hear from you.
