The gorgeous Peter Gabriel....

Hi fellow admirer of the Daisy Headed one!! smiley - winkeye Have you heard/seen anything of his musical thing at the Millennium dome? I only just read that he had dome a musical presentation of the development of man through the ages (in a trifling 20 minutes!) and wondered if you knew what it was like.
BTW: I like most of the music you like, can I ask your age???? (I'll tell you mine if you're within 10 years of me - otherwise I'll slink off into the distance.....)

Hi Sho,

It's GREAT to hear from a fellow fanatic. I have only heard about the Millenium Dome from The Great One's website. I have heard nothing about his show. smiley - sadface I am 41 years old and live in Ontario, Canada. The last time Peter Gabriel played here was in 1993! I am suffering from SEVERE withdrawals. I never saw him with Genesis, but I have been to every solo tour since then. He IS gorgeous. I visit his Real World site regularly, just to find out what's going on. I have even left messages at h2g2, in case he is here. I figure, Why Not?

Are you within 10 years of me?

I'm off to visit your homepage right now. smiley - smiley

Hi again!
So, I posted the same question 2wice in in 2 places. OK, I'm 36 so we can still talk smiley - winkeye
Actually, I have only seen PG once live. His voice does things to me that nobody should know about. And his eyes.... but I don't need to tell you that, do I?
Actually I love live music (my honeymoon - ohmygod15yearsago) was spent hitchhiking round Germany going to open air festivals. Those were the days (and I was in the Army then, which I think proves that we Saggitarians are a bit bi-polar) We married on Bob Dylan's birthday, and always play his stuff on the day. Do you also like Niel Young? I had him in the car this morning - he's a bit of a cool guy too.
I saw Genesis on the '78 (Then There Were Three) tour. Good, but I wish I had seen Mr. Daisy himself too. Phil Collins does a good PG imitation on Supper's Ready and I like In The Cage and all that other stuff, but the Carpet Crawlers is the one for me (you can guess why, I think....)
When I used to work for a company which organised conferences we did one on Multimedia & CD-ROM (in '92 - too early to get anyone's attention, so it sort of collapsed after 3 times) I was lobbying hard to get PG to come & talk (or Douglas Adams) because I knew about their affinity for the new medium. But no luck the first year (Microsoft sponsored so those 2 apple fans didn't get a look in) then about 6 months after the 2nd one (Apple featuring heavily) my boss said: "you of all people should have known that those 2 would have made great speaker..." That's life. (Our sister organisation got Todd Rundgren - who I also wanted, story of my life)

I've seen Genesis 4 times. the first was on "The Wind & wuthering" tour, when Steve Hackett was still with them. I saw them also on "And Then There Were Three". The last time was on their last tour with Phil Collins. They have a new lead singer now, that TowelMaster told me all about. He's supposed to sound a lot like Peter Gabriel. I can't imagine anyone singing with the same emotion. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about his concerts. He's brought me to tears a number of times, he's so good. There's supposed to be a new album in the works, called "Up". I can't wait to see him again. I'm planning on getting scalper tickets this time so I'll be in the first couple of rows on the floor. I have a friend who was one of the people catching Peter Gabriel, when he falls into the audience on "Lay Your Hands On Me". I'd love to lay my hands on him.

Knowing how involved he is with new technology, I have hoped that he has a site at h2g2 under an unknown nickname. It could happen, right? I know he's got a couple of interactive Cd-ROMs out already, including EVE. I'd love to get them both. They feature his music and some trivia. Have you been to his Real World website? TowelMaster has a link at the end of his submitted entry.

Talk to you soon. You're the first person I've met here that lives in Germany! Are you also on GMT time zone? I'm 6 hours behind that. I have friends all over the UK, Holland, Africa, Australis, New Zealand, as well as Canada and the US. I love h2g2. smiley - smiley
