I just got home today from the hospital and a substance abuse facility, after a failed overdose. All my partying will be done here from now on. I didn't have a chance to tell you what was up until now. I hope all is well with you. I have so much catching up to do. Everyone at h2g2 has made me feel loved. They actually missed me. I will make it a point to be online then. Was it a good wedding? My favourite cousin is getting married in October. I haven't been to a wedding in years. I think my Dad's was the last one. That was 5 or 6 years ago. How is Barney? Do you have a tick problem there? The collars are really effective but I've had a few on me this year. They're gross little buggers.

Hi, everyone here is fine. There are ticks around, but not bad. The cat's sed to get a tick once in a while, but now we use 'Frontline' on all our animals. That keeps the fleas and ticks away well. One bite and they're dead. We've never had a problem since. You have to get it at the Vet's.

Hope you have sunshine there, it's gloomy here. The wedding sucked, but we got out after only about 3 hours, so it was bearable. Didn't know many there, but afterwards we brought the 2 that we did back to our house for margarita's. Well, got to get some things done today, take it easy. Love Ya!

It's gloomy here too. I have a ton of cleaning to do, but I'd rather spend time here. It'll get done later. I've got about a dozen e-mails to send. I owe Gwennie a long one. She sent me a lovely one while I was away. We shall have to have a couple of margaritas too. Cheers.

Another rainy day. The forecast for the week is all rain, too. What's going on? I think we're paying for the mild winter. We took the dogs fishing yesterday and got caught in a downpour. The dogs don't seem to mind. They're not afraid of the thunder, either. How are you today? Tomorrow marks one month clean and sober. That's a definite record for me. BTW, how is Ivy? There's nothing worse than a sick pet. I always feel so helpless. Angus still has a wound where he lost his nail. I don't know yet if a new one will grow.

Ohmigosh! I'd almost forgotten about Ivy! I haven't heard any bad news, but I'd better ask about her tomorrow! Barney doesn't care for thunder himself, we had lightning strike right next door on Sunday, and he was shaking so bad! I hugged and petted him 'til he felt better though. I hope Angus' toe heals well. The longest I was ever clean and sober was 13 weeks at Navy boot camp! I quit drinking for 1 month while I was bartending, mostly because I was drinking WAY too much, it was killing me. I started again, but I'll never drink like I did before that. I only drink to excess on weekends, I'd much rather smoke.

My in-home counsellor was here today and she's pretty pleased with how I'm doing. My 18-day treatment has been postponed until Aug. 21, so I've got more time at home. I used to prefer smoking to drinking, then we quit that. I started smoking cigarettes then (stupid) and drinking way more. Now I've just got to quit cigarettes. Always got to have an addiction on the go.

I'm glad your job is getting easier. Are you going to be on afternoons forever? I was on steady afternoons for 6 months on one job I had. I was the foreman, so I pretty much loved the shift. None of the big bosses around. Also, there was time to party at night and you get to sleep in in the morning.
