The dolly was my grandmother's. She had a very full skirt that could fit over a toilet roll, and for the most part she lived in the bathroom. However, I was allowed to take her to church with me one day (sans toilet roll, I guess) when I was probably about 3 or 4 and accidently pulled her head off. I was deeply upset by this, and sat through the rest of the service saying, "Poor dolly, poor dolly", much to the embarrasment of my mother and grandmother. My mum sat there trying to fix it, but she couldn't until later...
We no longer have the doll, but my mum reminded me of the incident the other day, and since I was getting bored with '...and all places are alike to me' (the previous title) I changed it to 'Poor Dolly!"
