But there's nothing wrong with unwisdom sometimes, morrie. It is fun, isn't it, otherwise we wouldn't do it.

Oh, it's tremendously liberating, it's pure chaos, and from that I think we learn - well I learn anyway. The trick is not to let the ba$tards get you down, personalise but don't take it personally - that was where I was unwise.

Your personal messages are so much more interesting than mine! I've just spent a very entertaining ten minutes reading some of your threads. You have some nice friends!

Morrigan was at the party. I was there too. It was quite a civilised do, no arguments or fights (mind you I left quite early, maybe it kicked off later).

Morrigan was very nice, and an interesting lady, although we didn't get much of a chance to chat, as she was banished to the smokers' corner.

Would've been good to see you there, maybe next time?

Hello Fidjit. It was an interesting event, but believe it or not, I got sidetracked talking about quantum physics (not with John, I didn't even talk to John). I found it all a bit strange.

I didn't talk to John much either, apart from a hello. It was nice to put faces to names, and to realise that most people were unremarkably normal - I'd always assumed they were a lot more 'writerly' than me.

Quantum physics, eh? Well, it's not rocket science, but I suppose it's interesting enough.

I watched a prog about string theory last week or so. M Theory, it seems to be called now. I thought M People were quite good, if you like listening to manatees howling at the moon.

As I've said before, but I never tire of my own jokes, string theory is all very well – but nobody knows how long it is. The eternal question, but so far only Douglas Adams has come close to an answer.

Glad you enjoyed the party, Fidjit. But I wouldn't have talked to you, being a smoker myself. I'll try to make the next one, and I suppose we'll be standing in different corners. I try never to leave the smoking area at parties, just in case.

I have been known to speak to smokers. I even have a friend who smokes, and he's alright....

...And that does beg the question - what did you expect me to look like!?!

I'm not describing a mouse, I thought of Fidgit as a fast paced darting sort of woman, instead she's teutonically serene.

How would I describe you? I don't really have a mental picture, s'pose a sort of shabby gent. Enig, god haven't put any thought there whatsoever, but as it goes, I don't think he and Duh are the same person. Redmurray, again, not interested, DB, again ... How someone looks is irrelvant to me.

I like teutonically serene, a Celtic teutonic rather than German though, if that's OK.

I do form mental pictures of people. My picture of you (fergus) has altered over time though.

I think shabby gent about sums it up, untidy hair, a bit too long, and fairly tall and slim. Never seen out without a jacket on (brown, tweedy), though it could probably do with a good press.

Have compared notes of my mental image of redmurray with Kitty, and that one was pretty much spot on.

Not bad, Fidj. A bit shabby, yes, in a smart kind of way. However, my hair is not fairly tall and slim (I have rather fat hair).

I tend to wear jeans mostly, and the only jacket I have (apart from my machine-tailored suits) is a pale linen one, which has seen better days. I hate tweed jackets, especially brown ones. I am a shirt and lambswool jumpers kind of guy: think Hackett, or Boden, but half the price. Always natural fibres. M&S socks and underwear, but that's more than you probably need to know.

But enough about me – what do YOU think about my description of myself?
