The Guide has it's own version of Markup Language (GuideML) which I personally find far simpler to use than HTML. You can find more details of this at http://www.h2g2.com/A187229.

And then there's......well - it depends on your own interests of course, but I'm sure you'll find lots to do and say here.

I may be being a bit stupid/lazy, but what I really want to do is start writing some entries and submitting them. Now, how do I do it, or where do I find the info. to start trying to do it?

And how do you get hold of the smiley faces and tail-less fish things, and how do you send them?

submitting entries :

go to your home page, at the bottom you'll find a link on add guide entry.

click on this, type up your entry and when your ready, press the submit for approval link at the very bottom of that page.

Bear in mind that this may take some time as entries are submitted virtually all the time, and we only have a finite number of sub-editors and editors. When your article has been processed (at the moment it could take 15-17 weeks, but this is being worked on) you will receive a notification by email whether it's been accepted as approved entry, or rejected. If rejected, your article will still exist on the guide, and you will probably be given valid reasons for rejection with some handy hints as to how to develop the article.

Smileys :

= happy face = : - ) without the spaces.

= sad face = : - ( without the spaces.

= wink = ; - ) without the spaces.

= shocked/startled = 8 - ) without the spaces.

= fish = > < > without the spaces.


these can be used in forums, but SHIM has exclusive use of the blue fish which you'll see if you come across any postings from him. Can you believe there was a huge debate over this?

Hi(and sorry for butting in),

I was wondering if by typing => you get to see a fish
facing left (instead of the right facing one that you
just showed us how to produce). I guess that I will
see now whether or not it works like that
