Tornado 2000!

Post 1

January 3rd, everyone went back to school. It was just another boring day in the 3rd largest city in Kentucky, USA. Until the tornado hit, that is. Luckily, I was already home and the tornado didn't hit my house because I live out of town in the suburbs (we lost power and phone for an hour). But in town it did a lot of damage! I mean, really, when my friends and I were little kids we prayed something would happen to the school so we wouldn't have to go back, but this is rediculous! It especially hit the school, so we went back on the 3rd and got off again on the 4th. Our school had a beautiful glass dome on the front, where my friends and I usually ate lunch, but now half of it is shattered. And pieces of the roof were torn off in several places. If it isn't rebuilt by next week (which it probably won't be) we'll have to go to school in shifts at the other county high school. I won't get home til 8:00 PM!!!!!!! Oh, wait, I'm used to that. I used to stay after everyday...Other damage: a grocery store was demolished, the assisted living place was evacuated and my grandmother came to stay with us until the power is back on, 15 people are in the hospital, and half the roads are out because of fallen trees (whole trees not just limbs) and power lines (telephone poles were snapped in two). At least I get the rest of the week off...
