Hi,

I notice you have started on a 'dictionary of dune' in article A244595.

I was just wondering if you had any intention of enlarging it to incorporate terms right up until Chapter House? If you would like help with it I would be more than willing.

I only ask because I would quite like to reference your article from one I am writing myself on the series as a whole A1051057 and I am finding if I don't have another document I am going to have more footnotes than I can shake a stick at smiley - smiley.

Thanks for reading

KJ -

I am definitely planning on enlarging to the Chapterhouse book.

Due to personal reasons, I will not be including any of the Brian Herbert information from the prequels or Dune #7.

I must admit to not having looked at this in a while, but this should give me the impetous to start working it again.

Courtesy,

That's alright because I was only going to concentrate on the Frank Herbert Dune books, because I think the Brian Herbert ones are utter pants.

I am currently putting in the major factions in the duniverse (Am up to the Bene Tleilax). If you want to take a look at the entry and tell me what you think that would be much appreciated.

Great start. I'm not sure how closely you wanted me to read it. Here are my observations:

1. You can be a BG without being a Reverend Mother.
2. The BG fought against the control of the Honored Matres as well as being worried about creating another Kwitzat Haderach (sp?).
3. The God Emperor was Leto II.
4. Teilax Masters were never seen off the homeworld. While it is disclosed that this actually happened, no one knew what a Master looked like.

Hope this helps.

Hi thanks for the feedback Courtesy smiley - cheers

I don't want to go into the BG HM battle too much in describing hte BG, cos I am thinking of doing a synopsis of each of the books as well and I think that'll get covered in Heretics and Chapterhouse. The point about the masters was well made, but as I am going for the whole series I may just add that they were never seen offworld before Heretics. I will make the BG bit clearer about they can be BG without being an RM.

(I am beginning to wonder what I have taken on though, it is certainly ballooning. I may end up with too much and then have to pare it down.)

I understand about the "drinking from the firehose" feeling. Honestly, that's why I slowed down on the Dune Encyclopedia information, there's just too much to hit, I could have at least one entry for every page FH wrote.

I'm glad my feedback helped.

You didn't mention it so I will mention it again, Leto the God Emperor was really Leto II.

If you are interested in sharing things via email, just email me from my homepage, please be sure to preface the subject with H2G2.

Thanks again Courtesy,

I may take you up on that offer of the email.

I was going to do a main Characters bit as well and include LetoII (Or III if you count Pauls firstborn.)

Had you heard that Dr Willis McNelly, the guy who edited the dune encyclopedia died in April?
