Welcome to H2G2, Gildor! I think that you'll enjoy you're stay! I wish that I did know of any good pubs, etc in Portland - a friend of mine is stranded out there taking a class on building engineering this week and I think she's losing her mind! I *can*, however, refer you to a fun bar here, http://www.h2g2.com/A81398. This is TV Frink's place, and I think you'll have a ball there!

Gwen is always inviting folks over - but I assure you, it's great!
saying hi too - and would you mind teling me where you got your name from? I think I know it from a book, but alas, the connection eludes me for the moment...
have fun
Hi!

Gildor is actually a role-playing character of mine. I liked him so much that I decided to use the name. Full name is actually Gildor Dwamalk, but that just opens me up to all sorts of flamery, so I ended up just using the first name.
Gildor, I believe, is also the name of a minor character in The Lord of the Rings. I could be mistaken about that, though.
Thanks for the welcome, and the virtual-pub tip. I'll probably see you all around!
Hi!
Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Nov 18, 1999
Uh-oh! Now you've done it! What games do you play? I'm currently involved in AD&D & Shadowrun, but have tried *almost* every major system out there. Always on the look-out for more though.
Not sure about Gildor being in Tolkien, but there is an Eldor in Barbara Hambly's Dark books...

gwen, you're an angel! You're perfectly right on both counts, and I confused Eldor with Gildor *shame on me*....
and accidentally, Gildor - I played AD&D too, and a lot of other systems we could start forum on that, I haven't found one so far !

I don't mind either way, lets ask Gildor if he's interested, since the idea was spawned in his personal forum . if he doesn't feel up to it, we can always look. But you do, Gildor, don't you??
How did you think it - like a guide-description-of-different-systems kinda thing, an open forum, or another of those many many many countless clubs that exist with open forum for participation? (N2S: in fact, forum sounds like a good start, can make an entry out of that if it works...). I'm not that fit in many systems, so we'd have to look for others... we could also throw it in a sideroom of the pub, the cafe or the game room at frinks....
ah yes, you'd get my e-mail from faaaar down on my hp, if you'd prefer it like that...
gosh, this sounds like fun

I think that the open forum *is* the best way to start it. I like the idea of the actual entry hooked up to Frink's at a later date. and I'm sure that he wouldn't have any problems with it at all. So, Gildor, I guess that it is ultimately up to you, seeing as you started all of this. Input?
roleplay
kats-eyes (psychically confirmed caffeine addict) Posted Nov 19, 1999
here, have a c(^) of coffee for input ...
What shall come into it, you 2 guess? I think a complete description of the systems is boring, and a bit far-fetched - imagine the people start recounting whole worlds *sigh* - to keep it original we'd have to come up with a topic to correlate, or start telling a story *to be continued* - could be funny, if you'd HAVE to stick to the storyline the one before you just changed...

Gildor Posted Nov 19, 1999
Wow! Erm.... I dunno. All this input's makin' me dizzy.
Seriously, though. Yeah, I'm up for it. Here or Frink's place, doesn't matter to me. As far as making a guide entry, I think it might have to be a little less specified towards gaming systems. I know the general public usually falls asleep when I start pontificating about AD&D, or Shadowrun, or Palladium, or... Well, you get the idea.
Point being: I'm game. So, where do we start this forum? Here?

if Gildor gives us his kind permission?
we'd have to advertise it, though, so we better wait till he does...
did some sort of topic or storyline or whatever by accident pop into your head? mine's a bit sleepy right now, I have to admit *yawn*

Gildor Posted Nov 19, 1999
Topic? Storyline? Not so far as I know. (Then again, I do tend to do that sometimes, so how would I know?)
I'll start the forum, and post back when it's done.

Okay, don't know if I did this right, but...
It's actually a new topic of conversation in this existing forum, called, "The Realms of Nevermind." Any ideas how I can create a new forum, period? Or is that possible? HELP!!!

Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Nov 19, 1999
Probably the easiest way is to start a new forum of this type is to either write a new journal entry or write a Guide entry. I'd personally go with the journal entry. I'm rather fond of them.
roleplay
Gildor Posted Nov 19, 1999
Okay, forum's been moved to my journal entries. We can use that forum for info on the entry, or anything posted to here or the "Realms of Nevermind" thread, but let's try to stick to the journal forum.
So how do we advertise again?
roleplay
Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Nov 19, 1999
Well, the journal entry is a good start for advertising. Anyone who comes to your page will see that now and, if they are interested, will join the conversation. Another thing that you can do is go ask TV's Frink if he will make a link to that forum, so that folks know its there - I can do that if you want, or you can introduce yourself. Either way, that'll get it out and about. Also, my page for next week will be a link-o-rama, and I will include this there as well. And finally, I will go now and make a comment on the forum so that it shows up on my page until I can get the official link put up next Friday. Let me know if you want me to talk to Frink, or if you want to...
