Hi KayKay!
People just started talking without even giving you a welcome? Bad! I'm going to correct that error by saying:
Welcome to H2G2, Earth edition.
I hope you'll have a great time in here.
Whenever you have a question about how to use this site or its features, you can try severeal approaches to getting help:
1. follow the links at the bottom of the H2G2 homepage
2. click "Don't Panic" at the top of any screen
3. drop a line in the forum "Ask H2G2" ( http://www.h2g2.com/A148907 )
Most of us are quite harmless and rather friendly, prepared to lend you their towel for a moment.
Enjoy your visits to this site and above all "DON'T PANIC!"

Hey... You certainly strike me as being dutch.
Geen dank, graag gedaan. (For those who don't understand: this is dutch for "you're welcome")
Do we know eachother, perhaps?
I hope you will restrict the use of dutch language to greetings only?
After all, recently there are no more than 10 dutch people here, as far as I can tell. The rest wouldn't understand...

I will try to remember only to speak English in the forums so that everyone will understand me, us... whatever. That's actually not very hard. Ik sprek geen Nederlands. ( I don't speak Dutch.) I'm from the Dutch-founded city of New Amsterdam, if that counts (New York City) and a "Teach Yourself Dutch" course is gathering dust underneath my bed.
Cheerio!
KayKay

Well, the Berlitz phrasebooks are never far from my reach when I'm sitting at my iMac.

We're a bit alike, I guess. I'm a dabbler in all trades/sciences, and a master of none... Even worse: I stink in most of them

I just thought of something... since that name (Towel Bearer) isn't official yet, and there IS a vote going on about that subject, you might want to take a look at http://www.h2g2.com/A207488 , and place your own vote

At least noone has crossed over and suggested "doorbot", although that's certain to come along.
No reply necessary to this one.

Hi KK (just keep it down to two and you'll be fine)
I just wanted to add my greetings, and to advise you not to worry about approaching 30. I did that nearly 10 years ago and I'm still a happy slacker with an inordinate interest in noisy music and all faculties amazingly intact.
Party on, and welcome to h2g2!

Why thank you, Ormondroyd. You're very kind to welcome an old lady like me to the little party we have here. I'm much obliged.
Waving her cane in the air,
KayKay

Hi again KK!
What's you saying 'old lady' for? Ok, you wouldn't fit in kindergarten anymore. But old?? Nah!

I was just.. oh.. never mind. Well, anyway... it was a comical response to his remark above... and you know what? I _do_ feel old. But thanks. .
Boo-hoo-hoo!
Skeleton, oh illustrious Towel Bearer once known as Festival who changed it for some reason unbeknownst to myself, can I borrow that fresh towel you've got there? Mine's all wet.
Oh! Booo-hoo-hoooooowaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
That's better. Thank you.
But you all are way older than I am. That makes me feel better.
K.

You may even KEEP that towel, my dear... I have many more of those
Yep, a lot of us are way older than you are. That's also one of the reasons why I object to you viewing yourself as OLD. After all, if YOU are old, what in heavens name are we then? Saurians?
BTW: We (the people that greet new researchers) are no longer called Towel Bearers... True, that name was the most popular amongst the researchers, but the staff has chosen to call us ACEs (Assistant Community Editors).
Why I changed my name... that's a completely different story, which I will not go into right now. Suffice it to say that Festival died and is now a corpse, a skeleton.

What evil being killed Festival!? It was such a festive name.

It was a matter of suicide, Kaykay. Festival took his own life, knowing that he would greatly benefit from being no longer alive.
His name haunted him, with everyone asking him what Festival he was about, so now he chose to haunt a bit himself
*haunting laughter fills the room, while skeleton disappears*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!
