Wish you could get the skype or IM thing sorted - quite frustrating to see you online and not be able to talk to you.
Hope you're well.

I know what you mean -- right now I'm using my "Saggy Beast" -- the old laptop. It's about the same speed as the desktop, but doesn't crash every ten seconds...I'm even thinking of braving the Wordpress site! It's gotten so hard to stay online there that your blog is the only one I go to anymore...
Speaking of which, I'm having a spot of trouble with mine, over there -- I no longer get the blue dashboard panel thingy at the top of my blog. Makes it VERY hard to post anything new! I was wondering if Wordpress is now a paying site, but figure I'd have heard.
Anyhoo, that's what I'm up to today, but at someone else's house -- cat sitting again, not unlike your (former -- yay!) situation -- three kitties and they sometimes fight, so I'm here to keep the peace. Those little varmints better look out, there's a new Sheriff in town!

Try clicking on Crtl and f5 to get the Admin bar back. If that doesn't work try switching browsers (IE to Firefox, or viceversa) - that's worked for me. When I had my blog on IE I didn't have an admin bar but when I switched to Firefox it was there. Otherwise just scroll down to your Meta widget and click on Site Admin. Not quite as handy as having the blue bar, but it takes you straight to your dashboard.
Maybe switching browsers will help with the crashing problem too? Did you ever write to Feedback about this? The Wordpress guys are usually very helpful.
How long will you be cat sitting?

Actually, I found the answer to my problem, through Site Admin, right after I posted that. I don't like my blog and will be changing it around, soon -- maybe with a "green" focus, as that's what's interesting me most at the moment. Besides job hunting. Best not to even talk about that.
I'm going home today as soon as they get back from Modesto...about another 3 hours or so. THEN, when I get home, I have to straighten out my bookmarks on this computer! D@mned thing has nested COPIES of my whole favorites list, about every third folder! Where's the ideal bookmark-fixer-upper utility, for free, when I need one?
BTW, as soon as I get the bookmark mess cleaned up, I'm going to tackle Skype on this computer. Or maybe see if I can run that copy of Yahoo IM.

Do you use IE or Firefox? I love the Firefox bookmark thingy and also that you can create your own bookmark toolbar.
You really shouldn't have to go through Site Admin to get to your dashboard. Anyhow, as long as *that* works for you.
Good luck with either Skype or Yahoo IM.
And I am *not* mentioning job hunting!

Thinking 'outside the box' definitely feels like the way to go.
And it's curious we both thought of something similar at the same time.
Let's do it, girlfriend!

CAt sitting went well, and they paid me more than we agreed on, so that's all to the good! However, my little posse was unimpressed to see me, when I got home, the little devils!
I've had an interesting morning -- got calls on a couple of jobs, one of which I had to turn down, as the hours were too early for any bus I could get out there, since the hours were from 7-3:30, and the earliest bus I could catch was at 6:00. I'd have been 5 minutes late every day, and that's if the bus was running on time!
We'll see about the other!

okay, good news and bad news...
Good news, I started a new job on Friday -- a temp contract for approximately 30 days, that in all likelyhood will not become permanent. The non-working gap is gone, however! Yayy!
Bad news, I'm so exhausted, and have had some scary physicaly symptoms on Saturday, that have me *very* worried. I had a bad balance problem when I stood up, and couldn't find "down", almost tipped over on my face! Also, scary numbness in my left leg, even after several hours of rest.
I should have applied for permanent disability last year...

So... good news about the job and very bad news about the effect it's had on you physically.
I'm so sorry to hear about that.
Is it too late now to apply for permanent physical disability?

"So... good news about the job and very bad news about the effect it's had on you physically."
And that's after just one day back at working. I think I might be doing a little better; I slept about 10-11 hours last night, and I feel a little better. Maybe if I make sure I sleep about 10 hours a night until I get used to it again, maybe I can build up my strength.
I can apply for the disability anytime (these are for federal social security level benefits, the ones before were state level), as long as I make less than $900 the month I apply. That's why, if I still feel flattened like I did after work on Friday, I will apply when the contract is up, or I just can't do it anymore.

Actually, I might just do that. i have an email out to my sister, who's been on disability of the kind I'll be applying for (for rheumatoid arthritis), to see what the rules really are. I had someone tell me 'oh, no, you get the benefits in 90 days'. This is not what I've seen or heard. I hope it will be fairly simple, but that easy? I don't thing so!

Well, you won't know until you try. It seriously sounds too hard for you to keep on working, other than just occasionally part-time.

I'm thinking you might be right -- but I don't see how the hell I'm going to be able to build up any money to "retire" on -- in other words, to supplement my regular social security benefits that will kick in at 66, and the disability benefits end. We'll see.
Now I'm off to go have lunch and maybe stick my footsies in a pool. Bye!

I can see your eyes! So, how did the first week go? Think you'll be able to continue with it?
I just got up (lazy Saturday morning) and Nog has just brought me a nice hot cup of .
Hope you're feeling okay.
