Entry: Throw away your T.V... - A2545148

I was looking on a website containing ideas about culture jaming and discovered they were holding a campaign to get people to go without T.V for a week. It's not as easy as it sounds but now that I have I realise how destructive and life controlling a television set can be. Life does not revolve around Eastenders!!

You've got an interesting beginning arguement there. Try fleshing it out some, it's a bit on the thin side. Why do you think t.v. is turning everybody into anti-social creatures? Maybe expand on the idea of the christian bible as a mind control device, and the evolution of that mind control technique into mass communication, ie t.v. You have a few good ideas there, they just need to be explored more and voiced a little more clearly.
Of course, I don't watch TV programming at all (excepting South Park, that show Rules!). The only reason I even own an idiot box is to play my video games and kung fu movies on.

Hey just a quick message. Just wanted to say thanks for your encouraging and helpful comments. I don't usually get round to replying to people, not out of rudeness but laziness, but you've takenm the time to read my stuff. I haven't really had a proper look at your stuff but will get round to it at some point. And your right- South Park does rule!!

I've just read two more of your contributions, the friendship one and the 'what's the f***ing point?' entries. Seems to me that they would work as sections in this peice describing the seperation of the person from society, largely based on mass communication. Your anger is coming through clear in all of your entries that I've read, I just think that it would be more cutting if it were directed at one particular problem rather than the diffuse irritating aspects of life. You have something to say, and I hope you can get it across with real clarity and without losing the anger that gives it the impact.

I know what your saying but I find it difficult to focus on one aspect especially as there are so many problems with the world. I like writing short pieces rather than essays, and I find it hard to combine what I write in one long piece. I figure that it should be read as seperate pieces but that they should be looked at as a whole and each piece should be kept in mind when reading the next. Maybe in the coming months I will try to combine some of the stuff and create an attack on something that really makes me mad.

You've already written the bulk of the essay, just in different entries. I know where you're coming from, sometimes there's just so much irritating stuff that goes on everyday it's hard to focus on just one when writing.
Headers and subheaders could help. One way or the other I'll be lookning for the bigger rant.
