I saw the last twenty minutes of that match - so for twenty minutes we were sitting looking at the same thing from either side of the Atlantic - that's .
That's what I do like about the World Cup - that a lot of the world is sharing in something. It seems much more focused than the Olympics. Maybe because there's only ever one match being played at a time.
Football doesn't mean much to me - I don't see the skill it takes. I remember seeing my brother watch his first football, tennis and cricket on tv. He was five and got all excited over the way the ball was spinning, or skidding or going at unexpected angles. He was desperate to be told how it was done - my mother told him, then he went down the park and did it! I was three times his age and and all I saw was the ball moving in straight lines.
