Hi Pantherlady, I read this a while ago when it was in peer review I think, but it doesn't lose anything on a second reading
Thank you for sharing your personal experiences, you continue to amaze me with your articulation, honesty and strength.
This piece shows a good awareness that SI has elements of both an addiction and a coping strategy. It can be hard, trying to resist the urge when there is nothing else in place to help one cope with the emotional overload that leads to SI in the first place. This piece offers a lot of good ideas and it should be helpful to other people who find themselves in the same situation.
It's not a comprehensive look at causes and treatments, medical or psychological, and I think it's all the better for that. No academic piece could speak of the reality of such a personal issue, it is after all different for each person who experiences it. I think it is far better to do as you have done, write down your own experiences and offer them for other people to learn from and identify with if they wish.
Congratulations on the progress you have made towards emotional wellbeing.

This strikes me as a very honest, possibly very useful entry. It's also interesting to me, and very emotional.
As with your other story, it makes me think. In the good way
Hmmm.

Just stopping by to repeat myself. You have been CACCed (sounds a little naughty, don't it?). I'm including this in a future edition of CAC Continuum. It's a shame it's not in the UG, but that's the bean counter's for you. This is just too powerfull to let go unnoticed.
Anyway, if my including this in the issue of CAC Continuum bothers you for any reason (which you've already made nioses that it doesn't), then let me know and I'll grudgingly remove it.

Hi Pantherlady I'm sorry this couldn't be put on the front page. We really wanted this one for the UG! But the CACC is shiny and new and exciting and this entry is not entirely un-responsible for that!
Have you checked out the draft CACC edition that it will be appearing in? (Don't see why you shouldn't get a sneak preview.) And you're in good company with boots!
