Tied up the past week, having urachus (relic of umbilical cord, connecting navel and bladder) removed, along with rolly- poli bladder stone, learning how to rise from a reclining position and walk again when I completely lost abs function between the navel and the groin as a consequence of the operation.
Functionality gradually comping back.

Yep.
On a catheter the next couple of weeks while my bladder forms its new 'navel' scar and my navel forms a new subcutaneous scar.
32 surgical staples on the external incision.
Mobility already improved enough people are doing double takes.
Loss of functionality restricted to waistline area.=

Time to be upbeat.
Laying in bed watching Dr. Who on BBCA.
Possibly another week till I'm discharged.
They just brought in my breakfast tray.
2 rehab physical training appts. today plus a consult with the surgeon.

Archie! Mehitabel! ...and Fat Freddy's Cat... Dobbin!
Had my bandages changed today, first time since two changes Friday, easily enough hamburger juice absorbed in them to make a couple of Wendy's hamburgers.
Discharge from the hospital scheduled for Wednesday, next appt. to have bandages changed at a satellite facility only 1/3 the distance from home Friday.
Spent a little time feeding pastry and chocolate covered blueberries to a resident goose in the break area.
The bird was feeding from my hand, pecking up the candy, came to a moment when it abruptly stopped with two chocolate covered blueberries still on my palm, having had apparently all it wanted for the moment.
Its been an eventful week, from unable to roll over in bed unassisted the first four days following surgery to a point I'm feeling reasonably confident I'll be able to get up again unassisted if I fall.

Briefly considered eating the last two chocolate covered blueberries, but no, not after the goose had breathed on them.
Instead, tossed them into the area where the goose sleeps at night in case it woke up hungry.

Spent the night atvmy sister's place, hospital wanted to be sure there'd be someone close at hand the first 24 hours after release, also its not legal to drive in California the first 24 hours after release from a hospital.
In 5 minutes or so, I'm legal again and will be getting started on the hundred miles home.

Home safe and sound, first of my post-op appointments out of the way, two more upcoming next week, 32 surgical staples and foley out on the 8th of May, then start rebuilding my abs.
Very strange, immediate post-op, everything below the pelvis, inclusive, working normally, everything above the navel working normally, midsection, like a puppet with its strings cut, functionality gradually returning.
Laid back weekend with no demands of any kind on my time except as the yen takes me.
