How do I clean a badly burnt enamel pot... anyone?

Oh yeah! Snails will definitely clean a burnt pan, just give them a few months, once warmer weather has arrived. Mum burnt a milk pan, considered it ruined, gave it to Dad who used it to measure out potting compost. End of summer, clean pan!

Full fat coke with a dash of vinegar makes a pretty good burnawayinator, could try autosol and newspaper great for burn marks on bike exhausts?

Just letting the coke sit in it? Or boiling it in there?

Cold, but you have to leave it overnight,
(speaks from experience) - but from what you say, I really think this pan is ruined. I've only burnt and rescued stainless steel pans. Enamel is a softer surface and you might have made the pan so hot that the surface has absorbed some of the burnt stuff.
Can you do an online search for a replacement?

I'm going to say it again. Mr Muscle oven cleaner. It's actually been designed to remove burnt food! It doesn't do anything else! I've used it on pans, BBQ shelves etc, as well as ovens and hobs.
Shake the can, spray it on the cold pan, leave for half an hour and rinse. There might be a few stubborn spots that need a repeat. No scrubbing, no abrasives, but do read the safety instructions.
You can't use it on chrome, aluminium, copper or plastic, but enamel would be fine, it's used on oven hobs after all.

And it worked! Party party!
Left some discolouration where the stubborn spots ere, but much much better!
Thank you all kindly for your help

1) Juice of three lemons
2) 1tsp baking powder
3) Slosh lemon juice around in pan before sprinkling over baking powder
4) Throw frothing piece of crap in the bin and buy a new pan for God's sake.

I used Cobra Oven Cleaner Spray - it's basically the same as Mr Muscle, the main difference is that it gave me just a bit of peace of mind by stating on the back of the bottle "safe for use on enamel..."
