some of you may or may not know that there is a company considering (trying to get planning for) a gas storage facility in the salt caverns under the river Wyre.

the proposed site is within three miles of several (6) small town and under salt marsh land

there have been salt mines in the area and several wells which were used by the ICI which has had previous problems with land instability.
also the river wyre it's self has many 'faults' which could be potential escape routes for high pressure gas storage.

this is not the first application for this storage this is not even the first company to ask for an application for this so there must be a serious amount of money to be made by the companies for them to bother.

now given that there is a meer 60,000 people here that would be directly effected if something were to go wrong....

*sigh*

they have already given the go ahead for shale gas fracking down the road.

is profit always the bottom line?

and I find myself wondering what dongles work round your way, a holiday with a mission mixed in sounds quite tempting
