China was doing what President Lincoln had done

Serf in Tibet (XiZhang in Chinese) was liberated from aristocrats/monks in 1950s. The same slave liberation Civil War had been already led by the one of greatest president of US in 1861. The coexistence of a slave-owning South with anti-slavery North made conflict inevitable. If my memory goes right, southern states even declared secession from the union (independence?), and finally a war became inevitable.
War is sorrowful, but there is one thing infinitely more horrible than the worst horrors of war, and that is the feeling that nothing is worth fighting for...(Haper?)
I think some westerns undervalue such liberation means to the human rights of surfs. Should the President applaud for this action if he knows this?
I'm quite interested to know, under what value system you western guys think, a reincarnated monk and a previous slaves' master, could bring democracy to those previous Tibetan slaves than CCP ( or you can not trust both)? I could respect Mr Dalai as a religious leader, however, he has obviously been supported by some forces who could benefit from Tibet's separation.
