A facetious answer to the quote

"If great minds think alike, why can't religions agree?".
Answer: if you HAVE a great mind, you DO think alike with every other great mind which dismissed religion as primitive superstition.

OK! Good answer! Can I just ask you a question? Are you a religious person?

No, Adam, I think it would be fair to say I'm not, thanks for asking (although after that answer I gave to your question I'm suprised you need to ask!).
I was baptised and confirmed in the Church of England and all the schools I went to were church schools. I was never, in all my time in education, shown or told a single thing which gave me any reason at all to believe any of it.
If you need an indication of my thoughts, opinions and feelings on religion, you might check out my recent postings in the following threads...

My favourite entry (actually I was most happy with the title...) I wrote for that one was a debunking of common Creationist nonsense entitled "Creationism - Fundamental(ist) Errors", which you can read here: A670213
I don't count myself an atheist. I prefer the term "rationalist". Atheism implies an active antipathy towards the concept of gods, an emotional engagement in what should be a straightforward logical argument.
How about you...?

I don't believe in god, but I do respect those who do. I just challenge people's beliefs to see if they can back them without saying "God works in mysterious ways". I have a friend who is a Christian and I often enjoy mass debating sessions with him (ahem sorry) on the existence/non-existence of God.

I've said this before but...
The only trouble with mass debating sessions is people often end up talking a load of w**k.
Ay theng yo.
