Sorry about Vancouver this year; maybe they can have a taste of success in the seasons to come.

Does that mean you're cheering for the Oilers? (I would say "and the Senators," but I think they're pretty well done for)

I hope hockey can make a comeback here in the US soon; when I was in high school and college I was a fan of John LeClair and Paul Kariya, so I cheered for the Flyers and the Ducks. I still have great affection for those teams and for the sport.

I'm a bit of a Homer when it comes to hockey. If my team loses I tend to lose all interest, but I am pulling for the Oilers since they show all the drive and heart that the Canucks lacked this season. Right now I'm hoping the Giants do well, although their style of hockey won't be very popular with the OHL refs.
I think the strike (or lock-out) did more damage than the players or the owners ever imagined. I have friends who still work on hockey broadcasts (I used to) who have had their income cut by a third because of fewer and fewer US broadcasts. I guess it will just take time.

In 1994, Sports Illustrated proclaimed in the wake of the N.Y. Rangers winning the Stanley Cup and the upcoming baseball strike that hockey was poised to potentially become the number 2 sport in America.

Ouch.

Ice hockey may be less popular to the US market than bowling but we're in the Playoffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(The blue light is for the goal light and Canucks fans wave a towel at games.)
