The area where I live was predominently settled by Finnish Immigrants between 1850 and 1930. Grand Finn Fest USA 2005 will be held in my home town. We already have the record for the worlds largest sauna! The national Ski Hall of Fame is here because the oldest ski trails and oldest ski club in the USA are here. The longest running non-english television program in the U.S. is Soumi Kuutsu, broadcast by the TV station where I work. www.wluctv6.com
My friend, and host of the show for 41 years, Carl Pellonpaa loves to get email and news from Finland. If you'd like, you can check out the website and follow some links.

I'll check the website, thanks for the hint. I had no idea that Finnish programs are still aired in US.
Just how big is your Worlds largest sauna? We also have few claimants here with seating capasities in range of 150-200. Well atleast something like that. I'm not too good with remembering numbers.

Our sauna was a temporary structure built for Finn Fest and it held 666 people. I'm sure that will be topped in 2005. In Finn Fest 2000, everyone in town painted a chair blue and white and put them in front of their houses and shops to welcome all the visitors.

OK, I'll have to admit that it was quite big.
