The man from del monte

just discovered an interesting new hangout in virtual space
seems it was started by a man who wrote some interesting books a while ago, seems like a good bet that this might be a good idea too

Hi man from del monte and welcome to h2g2! smiley - cool

Have a nice cup of smiley - tea and I'll tell you a bit about the site. Being one of the ACEs (Assistant Community Editors) I've volunteered to wander around h2g2 meeting and greeting newcomers like yourself.

Hopefully, you've taken the h2g2 Tour (A317459) and you've got some idea of what this whole place is all about. If you haven't, don't panic! You can click the link in this conversation and try it out now.

So how did you find this place?
Was it because you're a fan of Douglas Adams (who was U42 here before his death) or did you find us searching for a topic covered in the Guide?

You'll be surprised at the variety of entries we've got - ranging from silly stuff like The Mystique of the Lava Lamp (A641224) to the proper way to make tea (A61345). The tea entry was written by Douglas himself! smiley - smiley

Perhaps you've got something about which you have unique or unconventional wisdom. If you do, why not write it up in an entry of your own and submit it to the Edited Guide. You can find out more about writing here at h2g2 by checking out the Guidelines at A53209.

It's really great fun! smiley - magic

Anyway, have fun wandering around and exploring the place! If you find you've got any questions, do feel free to ask me - I've been around here for over three years now and know my way about pretty well.

smiley - cheers

- Jimi X
