h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

My work makes me drive around town most days, too and from sets and locations. Then two or three times a year around the province and occasionally the rest of the country or other countries. I find my constant companion on most of these trips is the CBC radio service.

Now over the years I've found myself saying out loud that the only thing I would pick up a placard and protest would be the ending of CBC. Well, it seems to be heading in that direction and I may just put my money, time and effort where my mouth was.

I wonder if the Beeb could spare a program or two for it's poor cousin?

I keep hoping that somehow Mr. Harper and his lot will be replaced soon by people who have a sense of Canada as something other than an accounting problem.

The latest scuttlebutt is that CTV, Global and Quebec will get carriage fees from the cable and satellite companies by way of the CRTC but the CBC won't. Hardly fair if they want to call it a public broadcasting station, and yet they are terribly top heavy in management and can underbid private networks using their subsidy.

Maybe some trimming and then a new set of CanCon rules? Caps on US program spending? Hmmm.
