Question:
Our greatest enemy is our own ego, given that in order not to blame itself, some form of devil, in whatever shape, form or device is created by it in order to blame something other than ourselves.
?

I would have thought that you guys would prefer screech. To go with your seal flipper pie.

You mean, A3935892, Ed? I certainly have a soft spot for a Newfie Bullet, but for just sipping straight, Pusser's is more suitable.

Twelve hours ago I was wondering how ego can create a creator of evil and yet in some people (myself included) negate a creator. Just a little pretzel thought.

In Senatorial (sober second thought) reply to your first post:
Yes. I suspect as well that Satan is an invention designed as a receptacle for responsibility. Much like the scapegoat.

I was interested in how our own egos would develop the scapegoat or devil. Yet that same ego tells us that there is probably not a god.

does a single ego produce a devil while denying a god? I would have thought that the choices would be:
no god or devil
a god
a god and a devil
are there atheists out there who believe in a devil?

I didn't mean the ego creates both situations in one person, merely that in the case of a faither they create the devil out of their own egoistic belief that they can't be responsible for bad things. In my case, my ego makes me believe that there is no god because I can't believe I'm not the crown of evolution!!

Isn't that interesting?

too bad everybody doesn't converse like that.
It is interesting that different brains react differently to the world. And perplexing. And often frightening.

I guess that's why my convos are usually short. Few people disagree with me and those that do I try to understand.
I lurk the dawkins thread just for the entertainment value. I find that fanatics of any kind are not worth debating.

i tend to believe that the only god or devil is that which is inside us. We create the best and worst things in the world, simultaneously.
