Just an idea for a piece. I have used Hootoo for far too long as a chat room, time to contribute again. I would like this to be the start of an entry.

As a camerman in the video field I have always been amazed at the number of people who get away with saying nothing when asked to comment. Sports *stars* may be the worst, with their comments like: "The object of the game is to get more goals than the other team" and "I'm only here for the team". Politicians are a clost second if not first with such comments as: "We are studying that problem and expect to find an answer" or "It is not prudent to comment at this juncture". *Talking Heads* or those who read the news do it regularly with comments like: "We have not confirmed the facts but a source has said.." or the ever classic comment when interviewing, now used as an example of agressive *reporting* "When did you stop beating your wife?" Average people are not immune. When asked if they have witnessed an event, bystanders have said the equivalent of: "I saw it all, but I don't know the details" I am quite certain that the vast majority of on camera comments are absolute prevarication. Comments?

You could title the entry, "Useless Things People Say On Camera."

For quotes like this, good ol' GWB is an absolute goldmine:

-"The vast majority of our imports come from outside the country."

-"We are ready for any unforeseen event which may or may not happen."

-"If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure."

-"We're going to have the best educated American people in the world."

-"A low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people going to the polls."

-"For NASA, space is still a high priority."

-"The future will be better tomorrow."

-"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."

-"When I have been asked who caused the riots and the killing in LA, my answer has been direct & simple: Who is to blame for the riots? The rioters are to blame. Who is to blame for the killings? The killers are to blame."

-"Quite frankly, teachers are the only profession that teach our children."

Too funny! Did you find those or are they your own creations?

I think an entry that would be just quotes would be a first, but a marvelous idea!
