Hi, Tam!
This is a very interesting topic, and what you have written is very good, but to me there seems to be a problem with the balance of the entry. You have quite a lot about the early years, but then gallop through the last 50 years in a few lines. I would be inclined to cut back the bits about the Spanish influence, and also the line about the North-West Passage (which is a bit of a digression, really). Then you could give more information about what the Company was like in its heyday. It would be worth mentioning its fleet of ships. I think your date for Warren Hastings is wrong - wasn't it in the 1780s that he was impeached for misconduct, after he had returned to Britain?
Anyway, I think this is an excellent start, but that you should write more about the extent of the company at its height.

Hi Azara. Thanx for the tip.
I actually agree about the balance; I think I felt the article was becoming too long so I basically summarised the last decades. I'll check up on the dates again.
Tam.

Did the company finance its own soldiery, or was this provided gratis by the British Empire?

Hey everyone
Just to let you know that this entry has been scouted - but before I accept it for the Edited Guide, can you let me know if the confusion over dates has been cleared up?
I'll check again on Monday

Hi there, just to concur with Ashley's posting. The entry has been picked by a Scout and it's Edited Guide-bound; it just needs Azara's comments incoporated. I await with eager anticipation... Nice wee entry, by the way.

Yeah, I'm still here. I just shifted flats and this is the first chance I've had to go online. Sorry For the wait.
As far as I know The dates are correct; I didn't mention Hasting's impeachment trial as I felt that wasn't germane to the article. Is that OK?
Congratulations - Your Entry has been Picked for the Edited Guide!

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Hastins was appointed Governor-General in 1773, not in 1784 as you can see from this BBC link:
