A while ago, KM and I had a quasi-contest to see who was geekier. I believe it was a draw, but now I've come back fully armed to win....
alt.fan.dune, anyone? If that doesn't put me over the top, may I also mention that I'm a member of the Julian May mailing list? May I? Thanks. Also... C&C. Not just one or two of the games (pssshah!), but Spart and I are now the proud owners of SEVEN C&C disks. Yes sirree. And...um... I like Stargate-SG1. I spend an inordinate amount of time on a website devoted to making fun of other websites. We bought memory for the 'puter before we paid our electric bill... and I think I have my original Atari system lying around somewhere.
I'm not proud, but I think I win.

Eight. We have eight Command and Conquer disks, because of that extra Aftermath disk that I brought along with me.
Not that Aftermath works, stupid *mumbles bad words*.
Also, I think that having three DSL modems, two of which don't work (one never did to begin with), automatically gets you a complimentary Member's Only jacket and some glasses with tape on 'em.

...also, noticing (and caring) that there is a rogue apostrophe in "Members" seconds after I hit "Post Message", DEFINITELY makes you one.
Me, I mean. Makes me one. *slinks off*

Riiight. And as I told you tonight, when I got home from work, that I don't think the duplicate, extra, or whatever you want to call it, Aftermath disk should count because: 1) we don't ever use it, and 2) it seems silly to count two copies of the same game as two different games. Even though it's nearly incomprehensible to have EIGHT C&C disks under one roof, I think it's fair to not strain the limits of reality and to claim that we do, in fact, have seven. (And one that can be used as a coaster).
And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we've hit ultimate geekdom critical mass by simply holding this conversation. Here. The only thing that might win us some official award is if we start dropping phrases like "hit points", "weapon upgrade" and "5th Level Wizard carrying the Sacred Wand of Ra".
But I've been known to be wrong.

Well, if the game didn't stupid crash every time we tried to use the stupid disk to play the stupid game, we would use it. And if I can figure out what's wrong, we WILL use both of them for playin' network games, once we get the other computer. Moo-ha-ha, and all that.
And I think we safely made it out of that particular genre of geekiness.
