h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Ok. Anyone who has read the story of Echo and Narcissus (from Greek Mythology) where a nymph that can only echo the words others say (a curse from Hera, wife and sister of Zeus) and a beautiful man, Narcissus. Echo dies loving him and he falls in love with his reflection in a pond. I really NEED a song to go with the story (it must have lyrics) and I can't find one. HELP! PLEASE! I'll even give you ! Sorry this entry is written so awfully..

Did Michael Jackson not have a song about a Man in the Mirror, or am I deluding myself.

Or any song with reflection in the title might suit...

If you want a song about a woman falling for a man Eva Cassidy's version of Fields of Gold it's a beautiful version, the line 'so she took her love for to gaze awhile amoung the fields of barley' it may not be a man falling in love with his reflection but it's on the right track. If you want a song about a man falling in love with his reflection try that all time classic You're So Vain.

once upon a time,
long before christ was born.
a young man name Narcissisus,
to his own beauty he was sworn

yet he did not realise,
his own face was the core
the very essence of beauty,
for evermore.

one day he came a' walking,
and looked into a lonely pond.
and fell inlove with himslef,
he became of his face very fond

in this pond lived a sprite,
shesaw this young man
the sprite angered and hurled in spite
the strongest spell that it could.

lightning glowed, thunder cracked.
and were young Narcissus stood.
a beautiful flower a lovely plant
with elegant petals at its hood.

so now wherever you come a walking
by a lonely riverbed.
you'll see a lovely plant
with an elegant flower at its head.
