I call them Spell chuckers because they chuck out words they have not heard of like 'daylight'

I use an exercise on my students which highlights this and the point you made about 'their' and 'there'. It can be found here: A792533

Students think all the output of a calculator is correct.
Likewise they are happy to be corrected wrongly by the Gates Spell Chuckers. This is effective becsause of
a) laziness and
b) it looks good on the screen and in the print out
This supports your point that it allows the widespread dissemination of such errors and promotes the mistake as acceptable.
