Welcome! I really should refer you to Skugga, she's an ACE and a lovely person, but Ill give you a few hints myself and then direct you to her page, she'll probably be more helpful.
The best way to meet people with the same interests and chat with them on Hootoo is to find entries about topics you are interested in and comment on them. Pople will reply and you'll be able to see the conversation on your page.
Then you can add people to your friends list (there is a link on everyone's page, you just have to click on it) and you will be able to see their journal entries.
Now I'll go and get Skugga's page link, she'll be more specific and help you around a bit more.

I am with telewest and I don't have a pc so it does make it harder or should I say it limits me on what I can do.
