h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

HOPEFULNESS:

For having lunch I had to eat out in a common restaurant at the heart of the city where very often I do so.

This mid-day the topmost heat time of the day, entereing into the so said restaurant I found very little of their usual hospitality neither in their activities nor even any trace of welcoming attitude was there in their eyes nor faces.

The propritor also was not looking in his normal mannerism of asking the waiter to serve cold water nor he cared to switch on the fan button which is set at his right side up.

One of the waiters came towards my table and just asked, "What are you going to take?" and in response when I uttered these words,"Bring me bread and such and such dish?", there was seen a code signal given by the waiter towards the person sitting at the counter, and the fan started to move and a bit of cool water reached upon my table for which I had been longing and deservingly wishing.

Inspite of that I noticed around many of the customers who were facing the similar situation and struggling to keep themselves glad so I started to force myself keep me at least not sorry.

I found none there having very little smile in their face but there was a sort of puzzlesome expression in many of their faces.

After getting served my opted items on the table I was busy in taking them however, when , in a flash I saw the oldest worker of the restaurant entering there who was seen outside a few minutes before with a heavy gloomy face - now was with a full face of forcible smile in front of the boss.

Although the workers there were not seeming to be very happy because of probably crisissome situation of the time prevailing but there is a rythum, I believe they individually maintain for individualselves to keep with the routine works of the restaurant to keep their angry looking strickt boss, as if they will be refused to pay their today's wages, if in case, the boss can not be pleased by their work of helping earn big money by their respective services.

In the meanwhile, the cleaner boy was dusting my table after I completed my eating, drinking etc., when the counterman was looking at me again and again to have an idea when I may move from there so that he could off the fan.

Seeing all these, I looked at the cleaner boy who staring at me, as if was tring to understand what I feel there strange, just gave a big smile in response to my undeliberate smile, I don't remember since how long he had been noticing that in my face.

However, I enjoyed that with the hope that there are people either this or that reason who still smile as and when they can be presented directly or indirectly anything even slightest smilable.

This process of ventilating oneself from being exausted by mind and soul may help the humans to live a bit longer, I've learnt by virtue of my experience and observation.

People now started the art of practicing the art of manufacturing happiness being hopeful of living a little bit longer otherwise there is a fear around of being killed either by diseases, wars or natural calamities.

If death is the ultimate goal of the living beings why then we shouldn't live happily and be hopeful of better living as these people in the restaurant have been struggling either this or that way to keep on with the situation without violating any system of going on in that spot, looking as if they are hopeful of a better time.......

It's a wonderful toy, that thesaurus, isn't it? Completely ingenious, cunning, adroit, clever, artful, innovative.....

when I get from paper to pc, yes, I'm afraid I have to mull things over for quite some time before I write them down.....otherwise I might write something I wish I hadn't....and then can't do anything about it.......am I rambling?

I do a lot of mulling as well. Generally an article has been through at least three versions in my head before I even touch the keyboard. Then it goes through several revisions before it goes into Peer Review. I seem to have a rather high rate of bullseyes, though, given the speed at which I turn things out. Must be doing something right.

Not necessary that one smiles and adds few minutes' longivity of life. The essential thing is to consider what nature of life one lives. And according to me if a man keeps watching around in a polite and easy manner and try to collect movement of living beings and their activities, thats the intelligent way of living with "Creative Living Spirit". I try to understand what's the latest in living and letting live here and the up-to-date method of it people of the present moment adopt. Then we call it 'Life's It!'

I think your contributions are ideal for the Alternative Writing Workshop. You will get a lot more feedback there. At the moment they seem out of place in the Edited Guide, being based very much upon personal experience. But this isn't decrying personal experience: it makes us who we are and you seem to be a good deal more reflective than most.
