h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

The way I look at life is that we are all part of a chain of unchangable events. In other words, no matter how hard we try both as an individual or as a species there is no escaping what has been planned for us. 'It is your destiny Luke', but why so much control? And who has the right to control another life?
In the Star Trek world god takes on the humanoid shape of the Q and of the Q continueum - an extradimensional domain inwhich Q and others of his kind exist. The Q's emmence poser is used to control the universe, good or bad who, can say but at present for the human race as a whole it is a bad thing as the Q look on us as
still a savage race due to not reaching a certain stage of iterlectual understanding, so our role is merely for the Q's entertainment as they exercise their powers by provoking humans to respond in their own savage way.

For me the meaning of life is to simply being ones self, as an individual and collectively as a species. Its the whole driving force behind evolution. So what are we working up to? Going back to the Q, there is a ladder of evolution, how long this ladder is no-one knows except the person at the top which in this case is the Q and
at the bottom are the two amino acids coming together for the first time in the primordial soup from which life began with the Q holding the spoon in which it is mixed. We are constantly moving up this evolutionary ladder as we better ourselves but why? Are the Q controlling every speciesin the universe to see which will
make it up to the top first? The bible says we are built in the image of God, perhaps this is the case with the Q. But also it has to be said that in the bible as man become more intelligent and less dependant on God for answers and guidance, God felt threatened and scatters man across the land seperating them with oceans and
language barriers. Why? Perhaps it was too soon or maybe God had no intention of letting us succeed to our fullest. Improving our capabilities at a great rate may spell disaster for the human race as the all power again may feel threatened and it may result in a retreat back down the ladder to ensure the survival of the future
race.
