A lamentation...

...brought on, no doubt, by the fact that a shiny new copy of The Salmon of Doubt landed on my desk today. No surprise there, I'd ordered it from Amazon the previous day. I read it for forty-five minutes, chortled, guffawed, sniggered, and then put it down, covered as I had suddenly become by an all-consuming wave of melancholia.
You see, it brought home the fact the DNA is no more. I don't think of myself as a fanatic, although I realise now I own everything he's done except Last Chance To See (which I have read) and the first Liff collection. But it did bring it home to me that the extremely tall writer with the malfunctioning nose isn't going to write anything else, and that made me pretty darn sad.
I originally lost faith with h2g2 when they became a BBC subsiduary. My earlier entries (look under the name Dazinho) can still be found. Back in the day I was, as the title suggests, an angry young man, full of the injustices of the world. Now, I'm older, just a tiny bit wiser, a little slimmer, but also aware that the world is just a little bit less charming for the passing of the late Mr Adams.
