h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I've just had the nicest surprise! My oldest and best friend (aside from my better half, of course!), who moved away from Chicago just over three years ago, is coming back to town for a visit!

I haven't seen her since June of 2002, just before she moved to Mexico. We've been in touch by email several times a week, and she's tried to phone once a month or so, when possible. She's getting a temporary visa and is coming back for several weeks to see her parents in Michigan, and might pop down this way to see little old me!!

Brilliant!!!!! Lovely to catch up with your friends; cor, maybe that night after the initial introductions K might like to sidle off for a boy's night out 'cos you two will be yakking till the wee small hours i bet!

Hi Terri and FF!

It would be really exciting. It would only be for the one night, so perhaps a Friday night while he's at band practice, she and I could play catch-up, then have a lovely brunch with the three of us before she heads back.

And she's used to being around animals so I bet Herman would love her, too!

I'm still eagerly looking forward to hopefully visiting Terri someday in the not-too-distant future. I'd hate to be a fly on *that* wall!

Thats nice. My old best mate said she was going to visit during the holidays, she moved about 7 years ago. But she didnt visit and Im kinda glad she didn't because we're really different now and I dont really like her. And she thinks I'm scary...

But have fun catching up.

Yeah, friends do outgrow each other sometimes. It's not always a bad thing when that happens. Why would she think you were scary? Sounds like it's her loss, anyway.

I've missed Sam (my friend), but she and I don't seem to have changed much over the years, so we're looking forward to a day visiting. We'll see if she actually makes it up here.

The best of times are when an old friend comes by and it is like they never left.

It can be changes on either side that changes things about the frienship. Might be for the worse but not always the worst if you rightfully grew apart like some *couples can.

Sometimes it is an amazing learning experience all in all.

I did not email back because I am finding posting easier today. The computer is getting some history on it and refreshing properly finally. That was a pain to be a day behind and not know it!

When i was ten and eleven i used to baby sit for a lady who lived opposite us,i think it must have been for about three or four years in all!!!She moved away,and i only ever saw her once after that,and didn't have any chance to chat!!
Her children were lovely,and i loved them to bits.
Iwas searching for someone last week,and looked at our telephone enquiry site here in england..and there was her name!!!
I hesitated for a while,then decided to ring and see if it was the same person....i'm going to see her,and the boys,sometime this week.
The boys are in their forties now.....and they weren't even school age last time i saw them!!!
She is 80 years young,and still sounds the same,but i had to speak to her through her son,she's deaf ,and couldn't tell whether my voice was the same or not
It's nice to catch up with old friends,....i hope!!

Ooh, do let me know how it goes, if you do visit? That's so cool!

No, the reunion hasn't happened as of yet. *If* she is able to make the trip up here, it probably won't be till after the holidays, now.
