I'm not sure if it was the eggs benedict, or what. Hopefully it's on the mend, whatever it is.
Can't remember offhand what kind of plants- will have to post names when I get home. One has reddish leaves and bright red flowers- I picked it because it was going into a green planter. The other was a little succulent that K picked out. I've got foliage coming out the ears in our apartment.
I don't grow flowers because we don't have any room in the front or the back yards for a garden. I have a jasmine and an anthurium in the living room, but neither is blooming at the moment. Didn't get my tomatoes to grow very well this year, due to the drought. Even the indoor ones shriveled up on me after a couple of weeks, but those I tried from seed.

OK, the pretty reddish one is called episcia http://www.robsviolet.com/episcia.htm
Mine looks kinda like the far left and second right in the top row.
When K and I can borrow a digital camera, and take the photos of Herman and the apartment (and K), I'll get close-ups of the plants, too, if you like? It's the best way I can share my home with you at present.

That would be cool PC. I'll let you know when we put a link to the new photos on the Rowan Art thread as well.
I love jasmine, mine is winter flowering though. Still if I get a summer flowering one as well, I will get the scent for more of the year. So far the summer ones havn't survived though as we only have one small north facing window. Even in the, a bit of cloud means the lights have to go on. Not bright enough for most plants, not even ivy.

I'm very lucky, in that we have both easterly (three windows in the living room and one in the spare bedroom, each about 5 1/2' high by 2 1/2' wide) and southerly (three windows in the dining room bay window, one in the master bedroom, one in the kitchen same size as the others, and a bonus teeny one in the kitchen, up about 6 feet high) exposures. The southern exposure's actually not so good during summer, because we need to keep the blinds closed to keep out the hot midday sun. Otherwise, the airconditioning makes the electric bill absolutely astronomical. Even with the blinds shut during the days, and with the thermostat set to 78 while we're at work, last month's electric bill was just shy of $175, and it's been even warmer from mid-July on!
As for photos, I will share as many as I can as soon as I can. We're getting the new bookcase Sunday, the antique one my gram has for me. Then it's just a matter of tidying up a bit, and brushing that wobbly cat!

It's very rewarding! And worth the saving/sacrificing to pay the rent/mortgage. Both K and I have lived in places with only teeny little glass block "windows", and this is a nice change.
We both grew up in houses, so getting used to *not* having windows while living in dorms/apartments was kinda rough.

Will hopefully have photos within the week or so.
And K forgot to bring home the Geezers CDs I asked for, so now I can't ship Kaz's parcel today. Next week at the latest, Kaz, I hope... CDs and a book!

An overview of the expo is now up PC, on the Rowan Art Group convo.
Looking forward to seeing yours as well.

Very nice! Your photos are cool, those are headstones? I liked one of the paintings, too, a little blue swirly one with what looked like people flying in it.
I've moved some of the furniture around in here yesterday, to accomodate the bookcase, which is going in the dining room on either the west or south wall. The only problem with putting anything on the south wall (next to the entry door) is that is where the only phone jack is, so the phone and answering machine need to be able to sit on it. They ought to fit into one of the shelves in the bookcase. Once I've got that settled, we need only to borrow a camera and then I can get photos up and I'll start a new journal entry with those.
K brought home copies of CDs, so your parcel should go out by next Saturday, Kaz!

Went last night to pick up K's Let's Active CDs, which came in during the week, and I got DVDs of "The Golem" and of the Stranglers live in SF in '78 (Target Video)!
And we found a really bad movie on the TV last night- there's a program on a little local station called "Svengoolie", and he always runs godawful horror/fantasy/sci-fi flicks. Last night was some cheesy thing called "The Magic Sword", which we only caught the middle of, and it was so bad we've had to add it to the Netflix queue.
