I'm exhausted today, thanks to cat antics. Herman's one of those kittehs who really likes attention, likes to play and cuddle and talk. While we're at work, he curls up in bed in a sliver of sunlight and sleeps most of the day. I find him there, sound asleep, when I get home. I usually sit with him and give some quick pets and scratches, and we have a little "chat". When K gets home, Herman gets out of bed and gets all up in our bid'ness. He does the figure-eight thing around my feet while I cook, meowing and chirruping. He'll sit in his begging-for-food position sometimes, too. When we sit down to eat, he wiggles his way into K's lap and sits there while K eats. Of course, K lets him get away with it so I've given up trying to ignore him while we eat.
But he wakes up in the small hours, galloping around and caterwauling, sending any toys he has out (particularly if we've missed putting any of the ones with bells or rattles in them out of reach) flying all over the place. Rugs scatter, his scratching box gets flipped over. He'll often tip his food dishes over. It's insane.
I've got to start wearing this little beast out before bed. He's got tons of toys and clearly prefers when we play *with* him. One of his favorite games is to fetch a fuzzy mouse in his mouth, meow with it in his mouth and bring it over to us, to receive many pets much "good kitty!" praise. But sometimes I try to get him to play and he's just not having it. He'll lie there half asleep with the toy sitting right on top of it, or wrap his paws around it and go to sleep like that. Little bugger.
Anyone know where I can get some kitteh Prozac?

Well, you could always name a 2nd cat Prozac...
Having two cats is wise, since they tend to "wear each other out" I've been told.
...or you could end up like me - four kittehs in bed that squeeze from one side each, when they don't fight on top of your tummy about whom is going to sleep there - preferably at 2am.
Now it's quite calm, however. Notebook on top of the tummy. to my left, and sleeping each side of my feet while lynx is sitting next to my head loudly complaining about being the only one in the mood for a late evening chase.
Adorable little critters, aren't they?

Right now our lease won't allow a second kitteh, but then again the original lease allowed for no pets at all, so...
Last night we had plenty of pets and snuggles and Herman was quiet as a churchmouse all night.
Monday night was K's night to spin at the bar, and he gets home after 2am, shortly after Herman gets up for early morning nibbles and play. I think the fact that someone else is up and about at the same time gets him wired up- "come play WITH me".
Adorable they are, even when we want to make mittens out of them.

Give him a ball of string, and he'll hobble himself!

No joke! Sometimes I let him play with bits of knitting yarn. I take it away at night so he doesn't choke on it. But he sure can get himself tangled up into a mess!
