Well, there were issues of personal privacy, was it contained addresses, family details, interests, occupations (one policeman has been sacked, last I heard).

One just down the road from my work. But it was a give-away with the Union Flag flying 6 feet above his house... which has since been replaced by a St George's Cross.

Which will sound strange to USAnians. Flying the Stars and Stripes doesn't necessarily suggest right-wing politics. (Although the Stars and Bars can be a giveaway).

I did an image of a Union Flag with every name on the list (minus addresses, family details etc) but I got rid of it.

Sadly, nowadays, that's usually the case over here. A sort of nationalistic "patriotism" is fashionable amongst the "if you're not for the war, move to Canada" crowd.

It's bizarre, here the Cross of St George used to be the standard for the NF mentality, then it was appropriated by football and apart from state occasions and Last Night Of The Proms, you don't see a Union Jack around much at all.

I've got those Union Jack drawers I bought at the Tube gift shop when I visited last.

The two Scottish flags - the Saltire and Lion Rampant - don't have the same scary connotations at all. But then Glasgow has a reputation as the city that chased the Blackshirts out of town. After sticking the heid on 'em, of course.
