Stuff has been going on. Most of it good. Some of it petty work related annoyance having to do with deadlines that others make it difficult to meet. But mostly other stuff.
For instance last weekend, in spite of the warm weather, we ventured out to our favorite record shop and got a couple of CDs. We then went across the street to that lovely used bookshop and found more stuff- several titles of which were ones I've been wanting to read. Among them were "Anna Karenina", "Brideshead" Revisited", and a Gunter Glass called "Local Anaesthetic".
Then on Tuesday we went back to the record shop on the way home from Trader Joe's, because a friend who works there told me they had a couple of the old Target Doctor Who novelizations in stock. They has 10 that I didn't already have! And we followed that up with dinner at a lovely, inexpensive Thai restaurant. I had Rama noodles with tofu and some nice jasmine tea. And warm spring rolls that weren't the crispy kind.
My dad's going to be back in town next week, and the Wicked Witch of the South (my mother) isn't coming this time, either.
On the bad stuff. K's BIL has apparently contracted leishmaniasis during one of their stays in Peru, and it's been really uncomfortable for him. Especially as they've just bought a house and he needs to keep working (he's a professor at some little college in rural-ish New York).
Meanwhile I still need wisdom teeth pulled and possibly 4-6 root canals, toward the end of this year / beginning of next year. I hope to overlap two benefit years so my dental insurance covers as much as possible.
And K's mom had her gall bladder removed Wednesday night.

Thanks. I'm sure everyone will be fine- though I'm a little concerned about poor Florian (BIL). His legs are really sore, I guess. Poor guy.

In for a penny, in for a pound. It's better when it's all at once- you're already going nuts so going a bit more nuts is no big deal.

Ooh, ooh, is it anagram time again?
Yes, and the good news is much gooder than the bad news is bad, mostly. K's mom is drugged up but back at home and recovering OK. One out of two in the clear, anyway.
At least it wasn't the heart attack she thought it was- they gave her a stress test and she didn't even break a sweat. Her ticker's just fine.
And my mother not coming to visit is always good news.

I think we're more worried about Florian needing treatment with antimony than anything else. He's not been exposed to heavy metals before. Though he is a Hendrix fan so maybe it won't be too hard to adjust...

It's only a good two weeks until Hallowe'en, and I saw Teuchter with her anagram tag today. Funny, because I wrote about this 'tardition' only yesterday.

I totally forgot about the anagrams.
Now I've got my "costume" on.
"Tardition"- that's a word I'm going to have to borrow.

Isn't it a bit early for that?

That's an odd coincidence; a relative of mine had gall bladder surgery Thursday.

It's never too early to do something that will annoy Ivan!
JEllen, I hope your relative is OK, too? K's family has a history of gall bladder issues, including a younger cousin (early 20s) who's had hers out already, too.

She seems to be recovering okay, but any kind of surgery makes me nervous. I hope she heals up fast.

So do I.
Things are quiet at the moment, which could potentially mean insanity this afternoon. I'm procrastinating getting started on my work. I have just three tasks to complete this morning and they will probably take all of an hour, altogether. That kind of stuff doesn't motivate me to action quite like major projects and stuff with actual deadlines do.

I, on the other hand, had better get some sleep!
