I'm having one of those days. Can you tell? smiley - winkeye

Seriously, though. I'm trying to clean up the top of my desk before my vacation next week. I accomplished absolutely *none* of the tidying-up stuff I wanted to do over the weekend (dust, vacuum, some computer desk organization and filing of a few months' worth of billing statements).

I keep putting stuff off till later. Which just means that other tasks arise along the line, which don't get done either. smiley - laugh

And it doesn't help that I have this ignorant smiley - bleep seated near me at work and I have to spend my entire workday, everyday, either with my door closed or else distracted and disgusted by the sounds of him slurping, snuffling, and chewing. People who chew loudly enough that someone can hear them on the other side of a wall should be shot.

That's a fair judgement. I fully support that.

Snuffling I can deal with, because I have allergies and know how it works...but the others...argh....I feel your pain...

It's not so much snuffling as that really loud snotty snorting people do when they should be using a tissue and blowing crap out but can't be bothered, so they snort it back in. Then this guy wonders why his sinus infection won't clear up.

I was in a procrastinating and a rather irritable mood yesterday, for some reason. I've been sleeping weird (soundly, but really "hard", and with weird dreams) over the last week or so and it's making me hateful and lazy. smiley - blush

The good news- I did manage to get the top of my desk cleared off except for one thing (plus the report I normally run this morning anyway). So I'm not doing as bad as I thought I would.

Buy him a box of tissues...mebbie he'll get the hint..

Good oh! The trouble with a clean desk is people think that they can put more on it...maybe you should keep some stuff artfully arranged on there smiley - winkeye

I hate that kind of sleep, I get that too occasionally.

True 'dat, about the clean desk. Thing is, once I leave for the day Friday, I don't want to hear from anyone till I get back on the 28th. So I figured the less stuff on my desk, the lower the odds that I'll have anyone calling, emailing, or sending a text message asking me for something. smiley - winkeye

Hopefully tonight I won't sleep like that. I'd wondered if I was starting to Go Through The Change or something.

I'm even more inclined to procrastinate today. Someone's been calling my house at weird hours (last week, the calls came in around 5:30pm as I was walking out the door to work- last night one came in close to 10pm) from a number Call ID can't identify, and not leaving messages. I'm hoping that the old stalker isn't at it again. In his/her heyday, that person would phone my house at midnight, 2am, while I was at work, over and over, shrieking at my machine... but obviously I've lost some sleep over the idea that he/she might be at it again.

Or maybe it's just someone with the wrong number. smiley - laugh

I procrastinated too much myself, and thus only finished my paper by working very nearly all night - got about two hours of sleep between five and seven smiley - laugh So I'm not very with it at all, either smiley - zzz

Fortunately, I'm getting all my work done as it crops up. I hate leaving stuff to ferment on my desk till I get back.

Can you get a nap in later, Mala?

Good idea, Lil. smiley - hug It never pays to be paranoid, but you know how I can't resist assuming the worst.

I probably should go nap before I attempt to tidy up my desk again. Dunno what happened, it was clear two days ago! smiley - doh Now it's a pile of books and pens and half-finished models and things that go "boink" smiley - laugh

And that reminds me - the one good thing about having to get a router is that the new one allows me to see who's calling - so now I don't have to pick up if it's my father! smiley - somersault My mother and sister already had a code of ringing twice, hanging up, and calling again so I'd know it was safe smiley - silly

Your internet comes through your phone line? Or your phone calls come through your internet? Just curious.

I've been toying with the idea of transferring my phone service to our cable company (if they offer all of the same features) because they claim that local and long distance calls don't cost any extra. Which isn't the case with my phone company- we only get 60 minutes of "local toll" (anything over 8 miles) included and I don't get long distance at all.

Neither - it's DSL, but there's only one phone jack, so I have to put the splitter on that and then connect the phone to the router.

I have a flatrate for German landline calls, and get fairly decent rates for calls outside the country - but mostly I use Skype for that.

Oh, I see. I can't use DSL at my place because the phone lines aren't the right kind- they've got some kind of cloth stuff inside them. The building's an older one. Cable works fine for me, though.

Can you use a regular phone with Skype or do you need their special phone? I downloaded the program once and planned to use it with a headset, but I didn't care for that.
