Yesterday, we got stranded on the way to run an errand. Had the car towed back to the shop- it appears to be the alternator and/or battery which we had replaced in September, so it's warrantied. Except for the tow fee. There's a few hundred we didn't want anyway, right?
So we decided that since we don't know when we'll have the car back, we'd split Tuesday's grocery run into two smaller runs. The store's about a mile and a half or two miles away, which is normally a nice walk. But it's been SO warm and humid and my asthma's had me a bit congested and gurgly. Lugging a heavy bag of stuff back would be a bit of a pain.
We'll be heading over in a bit to get some of the stuff today. Hurrah!
My plan for this weekend was to run to Container Store for some bins and do some closet tidying, as well as picking up some more plastic containers so I can buy dried beans in bulk instead of in plastic bags. So much for *that* plan! It'll have to wait a bit.
We've got a three-day weekend coming up, so hopefully we'll have the car back by then. The Whole Foods is definitely too weirdly located to walk there and back. As is the family barbecue we've been invited to that's 40+ miles away.

Hurrah! Discovered today that one of the digital PBS stations carries the new-ish Doctor Who. Tonight was part one of two, with David Tennant and the blond companion, with some guys with tentacle-y faces who are "possessed" by "Satan".
I'm just glad we get them, though we are probably going to rent them all from Netflix anyway.

Car trouble is always such a pain, isn't it?
Saw Wanted tonight. James MacAvoy did an amazing acting job. Pretty good, engaging film, but awfully violent.

Not planning to see it- but glad you had fun!
Hopefully the mechanic will call soon with a diagnosis. We got up quite early today so K could take the bus (two of them, actually). I got in to work before 6:00. Had all my work for the day done by 8:30.
I'm tired as hell, though- someone forgot to put some food out for you-know-who, and he was crashing around at midnight, meowing and walking on our faces, etc. I hate when I wake up halfway through the night and then wake up feeling like I've only gotten four hours of sleep.

Not feeding properly??? Utter blasphemy! You deserve to be woken up in the middle of the night
a k a li'l kitty - who is anything but small nowadays - regularely wakes me up in the wee hours trampling on my face or chest because she wants to ... and there are more pleasant ways to wake up than four plus kgs cat trampling your face...
Of course she gets her What are we humans, but mere slaves to the cats...

Yep. We're just the hired help. They only need us around because they can't operate the can openers.
My personal favorite is paw(s) and/or tail in the mouth. "I'll just block his/her airway; when s/he starts to suffocate, s/he'll wake up and feed me."

Got the car back- yep, it was the alternator. It's been replaced, no charge for the tow, we're all set.
While they were at it, we had the tires replaced and the wheel aligned.
