Hmmm, time to start yet another useless journal entry and babble on about nothing at all? Sure, why not?!
It's Thursday, yay! Only one more wakeup then it's the weekend again! And next week I have a four-day weekend.
Going to see the Effigies AGAIN Saturday night! I can't wait.
Tonight I'm making veggie chili- corn, carrots, black beans, kidney beans, red and green peppers, about a half dozen chili jalapenos, cumin, chili powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, and a bunch of fresh cilantro. I'm also making some organic brown rice. We'll have a nice lunch tomorrow, and K should be able to blow his trousers off and make a good impression at his job interview in the afternoon (incidentally, wish him loads of )!
Not much else going on, just hanging out and debating if I'd like to run down to the corner for a bottle of wine to have with my chili. Hmmm.

Hi there! Wine? I wish I had some liquor. I seem to go through it so quickly these days. And it's so expensive. I went through an entire $25 bottle of Kahlua in less than a week! Rediculous.

Hey, Hellbound!
Oh, I can relate to going through the stuff to fast; it's why I don't buy actual "liquor" for the house any more.
Dude, I don't think I slept off enough wine to even have a hangover... I think I'm still partly . Thankfully K has practice tonight: I can get my socks washed and still get a nap in. I'm going to need it, I think.

hellboundforjoy Posted Nov 19, 2004
Yeh, I shouldn't keep liquor in the house either. Or if I do I should keep the 100Proof Southern Comfort which gives you lots of bang for the buck. But god, does that sh*t make me and
PC, I just found an email in my draft box that I thought I'd sent to you, so I finished it and sent it.

Hi, yes, I found your email Hellbound, and I'm writing a reply now.
Mv, the chili was good, and gave me some really potent gas. K came back after his interview to give me a ride home from work, and I really farted up his poor car. He's such a trooper.
Right now I need a nap! I was really hanging at work today. I've got six and a half hours till I need to be ready (i.e., in jammies and packed for tomorrow) so I can get a few hours of sleep now.
I'm looking forward to next Thursday, too, K and I are going to my grandma's for dinner. My uncle Jim is cooking for all of us. And no turkey for me- lots of other good stuff I *can* eat!

Hello everybody. I had a yummy birthday - pigged out on fried wontons.
The name of the Chinese restaurant was Tasty Buffet, and painted in front of the restaurant on the parking spaces were the words, "Reserved for tasty customers" LOL!
My sister in law made me two gorgeous pairs of earrings, and I got a cool new mousepad with some of my artwork on it.
And of course my blue suede shoes.

PS I missed having Abbi around tonight, too bad she is having computer trouble.

So belated greetings
I will *try* & send an ecard BUT with the beast being it may not let me, seems it only allows one window open at & time & no fancy stuff.

Hi all you wonderful babes!
Some questions:
1. Who or what are 'The Effigies'?
2. What are 'Wontons'?
You folks sure enjoy talking about yummy food stuff! I've recently had a coupla very nice vegetarian meals. One was in a Chinese Restaurant and was based on pasta and 'bean curd'. I still don't quite know what 'bean curd' is (apart that it must have something to do with beans) but the meal sure was tasty!
The other very nice meal was a while ago when our art class had its end-of-year party! Me and my dad are the only men in the class. The rest are women, and certainly a group of very cool and classy ladies! The party was nice - it was held at a local nursery (actually a very large place with gardens and outdoor and indoor chairs for the restaurant section). The menu didn't include any vegetarian dishes ... there were lots of seafood and fish, but I don't even want to eat poor little invertebrates like oysters or shrimps ... so I spoke to the owner and he came up with something 'special' for me! It was *also* based on pasta and with cheese and 'brinjals', some green veggies, little tomatoes and a spicy chilli sauce and it was excellent! I think I may have had the tastiest meal of the whole class.
Over here, 'mince pies' are pies with minced *fruit* inside!
Well anyways.

Hi all, just checking in to let you know I survived the weekend!
Happy belated birthday, JEllen!
Sounds like a lovely dinner you had, I love Chinese! Willem, wontons are dumplings, usually stuffed with meat, bok choy, green onion, etc, served either fried or in soup. They're yummy!
The Effigies are a punk band from Chicago, they've been around since at least the early '80s. I'm a huge fan... we saw them Saturday night and they ROCKED!!
Besides the show on Saturday all we really did was some grocery shopping and a late lunch/ early dinner at a local diner. Today we did bowling with K's folks, then went out for Mexican. We went back to his folks' place, made a fire in the fireplace, and had hot chocolate while we watched the Simpsons.
Other than that, the only other big thing was to clean up the kitty after an episode of falling in the litter box. He'd managed to smear especially stinky feces along the floors from one end of the apartment to the other in what K referred to (brilliantly, I might add) as a "poo d'etat".
Off to bed now, tired from a huge dinner and long walk this evening. See you guys when I get back from work tomorrow.
Happy belated birthday again, JEllen! s and to all!

Willem, your dinner for your art class sounds awesome, too! It's hard when you're at a place with a meat-intensive menu, I know. Sounds like the cook did a good job of it for you, I'll have to request a special dinner next time I'm someplace where there's nothing I'd eat on the menu. I love pasta and spicy sauces!

Sometimes it's a bit of a close call, it's true. And it's like that just about all the time.
Friendly reminder about photo was given this weekend; worst come to worst we'll be at my grandma's Thursday and can have my uncle take one with his digital and email it to me.

Hello again!
So, I'm back from work and a bit more grocery shopping. I'm preparing pasta with shrimp in a Thai peanut sauce this Wednesday for Movie Night, so I needed to grab some scallions, cilantro, and bean sprouts. I also found sweet potatoes and jicamas on sale and got a few each of those as well. And an incredibly cheap jug of with a screw off cap. (Said to accompany tonight's dinner of garlic and herb cheese spread and crackers.)
I love the early evening, now it gets dark by 4:00 PM, when my roommate's not home and I can light up all my candles and play some tunes. Living in an area with a large Hispanic population, I can gets scads of those nifty "memorial" candles, the colored ones in the tall glass holders with pictures of Catholic saints and Spanish prayers on them. They're only $1 apiece at the shop on the corner, and they burn for weeks. I have literally dozens of them all around the place, on various end tables and window sills. I also like my little lantern which burns the tea lights, its waaaaaaay cool. Maybe if I can get my paws on a digital camera, I'll scan a photo on here.
Okay, enough babbling about candles... sheesh!
I'm really pissed off that my Sea Monkeys haven't hatched. I've killed the poor little buggers already! Luckily they have a warranty, so I can order more eggs and maybe one of those aerating pumps, in hopes for better luck. Sea Monkeys are !
So, I haven't heard anything further yet about the buyout at work, and it's really annoying. From one or two casual comments, I am getting the feeling that K might be wanting (or at least willing) to move in come early June, so if you all can keep wishing, hoping, praying, and sending your energy this way, I might be able to work that out. That will be a huge blessing. K's interview seemed to go well Friday, but he's a bit overqualified, so keep your fingers crossed still. Once he's got a better job, we can start on me...
Not much else to report on the home front, folks. Job sitch: sucks. Romance sitch: progressing nicely, well into comfortable but far from complacency; fun, interesting, mutually supportive and lots of going on. Penguin Killer (AKA known as "roommate", or "Dingleberry") is not being too bad lately; we're either getting on all right or just not running into each other much. Both of which suit me fine. Haven't talked to my friend S in months, but that suits me fine as well: I don't have a lot of time or energy and I don't always do well at actively maintaining friendships, especially with people I have only one or two things in common with. Luckily, I do all right with my hootoo friends. Though I still feel I neglect you lot sometimes.
I hope no-one minds receiving an e-card for Xmas. Getting to the post office for stamps can be a real chore, and anything sent snail mail can take months, with me, Xmas cards likely to appear around Valentine's Day.
Well, I don't know if I have anything else worthwhile to say, or if I'm just listening to myself type here! Thanks to Hellbound and Vix for recent emails, anxiously awaiting one from Kaz... and hopefully can arrange a chat with Terri and/or JEllen soon, although with the holiday I mightn't be on much from Wednesday night till Sunday or Monday. Thursday's the dinner at grandma's, and K and I are condo/puppy-sitting for J and N again this weekend, through Sunday. We have to make a two-hour drive Sunday to drop the puppies at N's parents' Chicago home, which could prove fun, or at least eventful.
I'm about to begin reading "Midnight's Children". Has anyone any suggestions for when I'm through with that? It might take a few weeks...
Okay, I'm done for real now, off to reply to my "Ask" thread about the playlist for the deejay gig I'm helping with. Once I'm through with that, I'm going to complie two more CDs: one of punk rock Xmas tunes, and one of songs that all have the same word in or for the title. Anyone want to help pick that word?
Key: Complain about this post
