Return of the Beast?

Post 1

So, when I bought the new Beast, I got some inexpensive software at the same time that allows you to migrate files to the new computer from the old one. It moved programs, documents, my mp3 collection, and all of the browser bookmarks. Excellent!

I then wiped the hard drive in order to donate the old computer to charity. But since then, I haven't been able to get the Mac onto the internet via the network. I was never interested in sharing printing or scanning capabilities, just the internet connection, using the router.

So, I'm thinking I might pack the Mac up into the cubbyhole and hook the old Beast up to be used as a second computer. I'm wondering if I can migrate files back to the old Beast without removing them from the new one. One would *think* it would work that way, no?

And I wonder if it will move XP onto the old Beast as well? I really don't want to deal with the old Win98 setup, especially as the backup CD was scratched and it would need to be restored from the F: drive...

Anyone else used this kind of software before and used it to move files without wiping them?
